    POA Aviation Media Forum Sucks

I've admired your work in Sport Aviation and other places for years, Jack! Like I said originally, no offense intended. In my opinion, a valid question with a well-considered response. Thank you! Jim

    POA Aviation Media Forum Sucks

I don't know if this was a serious inquiry from J0hnH, but mine is...I don't see this in the forum list. How do I get to it? Excellent question, Palmpilot...if the posts show up in New Posts, I don't see an issue where a post is located. I don't usually even log in to check content...

Edit ForeFlight with an external editor?

.....Yup, FF does that too. I have the manuals for our avionics all in the Documents section of FF in PDF format. Just another way the OP could handle his original issue. Jim

How much should I tip my CFI?

We tip the guys at the FBO our personal aircraft are at for Christmas. Same with the folks at the FBO my wife's work aircraft (we also manage the a/c) is based at. Standard is for them to tip on trips..especially places they go back to. Makes folks happy to help. Me?....I just let my CFI...

    Monitor Question - Flight Simulators

Thanks! We have fun with it. Useful too..We've actually taught a couple of friends to 'fly' new-to-them GTNs with it. The GTN on the ipad runs the Garmin Trainer app in the background, so it's dead-on. Jim

    Monitor Question - Flight Simulators

I'm late to the party, but for any others making monitor choices, IMHO the whole refresh rate/hz. rate thing, at least in the flight sim arena, is a way to sell monitors. These are cheapo 50" 4k TVs running X-Plane 12. They run at 30 hz., and I have them locked to 30fps in XP12. More than...

Fantastic Friday in '74! Hey Mods?

Not surprised.....back in the day, most men were too busy looking at my (now ex) wife to see me. :-) Not all in all a bad thing.... I'm still amazed how close they let us get to the runway back then! Jim

Fantastic Friday in '74! Hey Mods?

OK... a degree in computer science, certified by MS and other network providers, 20 years as a unix/novell/ms network professional, trained (and certified/working until retirement) in criminal computer forensics.....none of which seems to be helping the issue. LOL :) I'm willing to email you...

Fantastic Friday in '74! Hey Mods?

I was wandering around my archives and came across what I think is a fascinating audio. It's a 30-minute-long recording of KOSH ATC from August 1, 1974, starting at the conclusion of the airshow. The traffic was out-of-hand and the controller, on the fly, split the frequencies between runways...

    Registration questions

Yes....call OKC. We did this within the last month. The reg. expired on the R182 and we screwed up, and missed it. Looked up the number for the registration folks, and were on-line forever. When they answered, however, they were polite and helpful. No more than two weeks from the phone call...

Any tips for finding a doc that will do BasicMed?

I got my BasicMed signed off at the end of my annual physical with my regular Doc yesterday. It probably helped that I made it easy for him.... I had put together a little packet with the already-filled-out 8700-2 patient history form and checklist forms, and a single-page, big-typed cover...

Is basic flight simulators fun or boring?

The sim is what you make of it. We flew up to Kelly's Island (89D - 2200') in Lake Erie (North of Port Clinton) for lunch yesterday in the R182. Did some sitatuational awareness 'flying' of the area on Friday in the sim, using X-Plane 11 and Carenado's T210 to substitute for the R182. Felt...

    Tom Poberezny passed away today.

The first time I met Tom, I had flown my Clipper in a few days before the fly-in. It was getting on toward dark, and about the time I got my little tent set up in the woods, here comes a roofless VW. The driver asked if I had eaten, as obviously there was nothing, anywhere yet. He gave me a...

Oshkosh, how many years you been going?

My first EAA fly-in was RFD in '62..... I was in high school. Dad was a Illinois State Trooper and got tickets for the family by working traffic control. I still have my ticket somewhere for the ride they splurged on for me....Ford Tri-motor...414H as I recall. Notable memories.... La...
