Anyone else propose to their wives in flight? Using a helicopter AND and airplane?

On this site they're fond of saying, "Pix or it didn't happen". I rest my case.

Anyone else propose to their wives in flight? Using a helicopter AND and airplane?

The whole thing was nuts. Minding my own bisiness in IL. Had a Citabria and a Vagabond. 3-day trial on match.com. Did a search for Citabria on the site...bingo, only one return. Lady from OH...tall blonde, CFII, jet jock. From her profile "A Citabria is my dream airplane". Clearly...

Anyone else propose to their wives in flight? Using a helicopter AND and airplane?

Didn't propose to her in an airplane, but actually married her in one....in her 172 circling over one of the local lakes. She and I sharing piloting duties, a preacher and my (now) step-son in the back. 15 years on...life is good.

    Word to the Wise

We've been negotiating changing insurance carriers on the R182....private-owned, not for flight instruction. When our agent contacted one of the insurers, he got a return call in a few minutes....basically, "Hey, it looks like your airplane is out giving instruction! What's up with that!" The...

    Stepped in KRAP

Good advice! We landed at KRAP a couple years ago on the way to Yellowstone. Great vis and we saw Ellsworth l-o-n-g b4 KRAP showed up. Question is, did you get the 'flew thru KRAP' t-shirts? . We did! ;-) Jim

    Riding Mowers -Gas/Electric?

......and...we've come full circle! "The true underlying energy source of ALL of our energy is the sun"- flyingcheesehead. Hence my quest to use our massive solar panel summertime over-production to mow the yard . The energy and resources needed to produce the panels are spent cost. Now the...

    Riding Mowers -Gas/Electric?

Got a chuckle out of this....been feeding the Steiner (23 hp maybe?) non-alcohol gas out of a set of the old mil-style cans for years. :-) Ironically, I've got 100 or so gallons of Jet-A/diesel mix in 55 gallon drums in reserve for the MEP803 gennie that had been our PoCo back-up til solar...

TR182 Important Prebuy Items and Feedback

Nah...I'm not that witty! However, on the subject, our R182 DID come with a bullet hole. Some SA had put a paste-on one on the fuselage pre-us ‍ ;-)

TR182 Important Prebuy Items and Feedback

I noticed from the ad you posted that your proposed a/c is ex-FBI. We've been flying one of those (non-turbod) since 2013...great airplane. The complete interior of ours is zinc chromated, but I don't know if that was standard for feebee (retired cop humor) planes. I think your bullet points...

    Riding Mowers -Gas/Electric?

Good observational skills Ron! I was thinking of bolting batteries in where the weights are!....Maybe something quick disconnect to swap packs?

    Riding Mowers -Gas/Electric?

You are WAY ahead of me on the electric tractor curve. I just started researching the whole project, hence the initial question. The 48v came out of my limited experience in the residential solar area, where 48v seems standard. I come seeking knowledge. Are there applicable forums, so we...

    Printer w/ (auto) Duplex Scanning?

We put it in my wife's office initially, and after her 'it's loud' comment I offered to swap it back for the old printer, which I had taken to my office. No way she was giving it up ! . It's a winner! Thanks!

    Riding Mowers -Gas/Electric?

As I understand the local history, the Ventrac is actually the red-headed step-child of the Steiner. Poppa Steiner started the Steiner brand on his farm in Orrville, Ohio (8 miles east of kbjj). He had several sons who, when he died, were unable to come to an arrangement on the business. Thru...

    Riding Mowers -Gas/Electric?

This discussion started because I mentioned, in a related post, converting a riding mower to electric, to use the massive extra summer electricity we have from our off-grid solar. Opinions varied, and opened into an over-all discussion on larger riding mowers. I found the long response by...

    Electric Lawn Tools

We've taken the electric lawn tools discussion off the rails to mowers. My bad! I find the discussion interesting, so will start a new thread on riding mowers...gas or electric :) Jim

    Printer w/ (auto) Duplex Scanning?

First impressions of the Canon MF656...it's heavy! Not gonna blow away in a stiff breeze. It will do what we want for scanning, plus. Duplex page scanning in a single pass, with options to save multiple loaded pages in the feeder to a single file or each to a separate file in .pdf, .jpg (or...

    Electric Lawn Tools

I'll grant you that an EV mower that size or converting probably makes absolutely NO financial sense.....but....but.... you're talking to a guy who owns two airplanes (financial sense you say?), and just spent a butt-load of $$ on solar cause the PoCo peed him off. ....and you expect logic...

    Electric Lawn Tools

We have the Milwaukee 12" chain saw, weed-eater and blower....that brand mosly because I have their other 18v tools. So far so good. Our Stihl gas units haven't been off the wall since we got the Milwaukees. Does anyone have any experience with the BIG electric riding mowers? We're currently...
