Engine Maintenance / reliability (distilled from Busch's Engines)

I just read through Mike Busch's engines book. As a pilot and owner of a C-150 with a Continental O-200, I have a vested interest in keeping my engine running reliably. I was hoping that this book would help me glean some knowledge on how to decrease my chances of having an in flight engine...

    Luscombe Road Trip—Wish me luck!

Jay, what an incredible trip. Thank you for sharing this write up with us, it has been so much fun to follow. Are you planning on putting up a blog/website for this journey? I look forward to vintageflying.com's annual journey in his cub for similar reasons.

My Taildragger Training as well as primary training

It's obvious that you are trying hard indeed, not settling for "good enough" and holding yourself to very high standards. That's a great way to start your aviation career.

My Taildragger Training as well as primary training

Wow, great videos and a lot of fun to watch your progress! Just saw the first solo landing video... so smooth it was hard to tell when it touched the ground :)

    Cessna 150K- What to expect

I guess you're only paying for gas... sounds like a great deal!

    Budget panel upgrade

Thanks everyone for the thoughts. I'll have to think about this. I'll be getting ADS be either way. This is part of why I'm asking opinions... I was just going to get a Uavionix unit but I might be better off putting that $2k towards a 375. I saw the cost for a 375 package is $9.5k, which...

Light Sport Update ... kinda, sorta, maybe, perhaps -

50 minute video... is there a summary / highlights article anywhere?

    Budget panel upgrade

This is the type of creative thinking I was looking for. I had never heard of this unit, but it looks like a straightforward installation and could add the capability I'm looking for.

    Budget panel upgrade

This is along the lines of what I was thinking... if I do a budget upgrade, I'm not going to get any value back on it. However, a 375 significantly increases the value of the airplane, even if it does seem like overkill.

    Budget panel upgrade

In my new to me Cessna 150, I would like to finally complete the instrument rating that I started years ago. Let me be clear that I have no interest in flying in IFR conditions in a 150; I just want to become a better pilot. To that end, the plane I bought has a single Nav/Com (TKM MX-300) with...

    Cessna 150K- What to expect

No disrespect to the AA-1A, which is certainly a faster plane - but I'm not sure 8 knots qualifies as being left "in the dust"

    Cessna 150K- What to expect

Interesting that you bought a 150 when you already had an RV

    Cessna 150K- What to expect

What should you expect? To have oh-so-much fun. I flew about 150 hours in a C-150 the first couple of years of my PPL, but sold it 4 years ago and hadn't flown one since. I just bought another and last night went up for the first time in 4 years... it felt like putting on a comfortable old...

Looking for a simple reliable plane

Cessna 150 for sure - simple, less expensive to own and maintain, and optimize smiles per gallon

    9/11 Never forget - 19 years

My 16th birthday, 11th grade. Watched the second airplane crash during trigonometry class. Thanks for sharing the video.. I've never seen it, but it is right on.

    Review my flight plan

Interesting... I was wondering if anyone would suggest the westerly route and if so, why. I was primarily looking at the east route because it seemed shorter and with less terrain. Also, the aircraft has a transponder but no ADS-B, so unfortunately anything within the mode C veil is out :(...

    Review my flight plan

Hi All - Planning a flight tomorrow from KFCI to KLNS. Planning on routing > MD82 > 27MD to avoid restricted areas, SFRA, and class B. I will get flight following. Thoughts on this route, or any suggestions? It's my first time through this busy airspace, and this route seemed like it was the...

Oil filters / changes for Cessna 150

Just got a new-to-me Cessna 150! It has about 1500 smoh and does not have an oil filter. I'm thinking about how to manage the oil changes. It seems like the best thing to do would be to put an oil filter adapter on and change the oil and filter every 3-4 months. I only ask the question here...
