For Sale Alaska Corporate pilot position

Because the companies offering $1000/day are fully staffed and not looking for pilots?

For Sale Alaska Corporate pilot position

It’s nice that companies have finally figured out that it’s cheaper to pay pilots to stick around instead of having a revolving door of pilots and the accidents that go with it. The vast majority of 135 accidents in this state are very low paying companies. I think a lot of that is because they...

    Log book error

I have been asked exactly 0 times about how many landings I have, nor have I ever seen landings listed on a resume. I wouldn’t sweat it at all

For Sale Alaska Corporate pilot position

Island Air Express, $1030/day for Caravan/PC12. Bering Air, $1000+/day for people with 1000 hours of caravan time and 3 years flying in Alaska. Neither company advertises online, and they aren’t interested in people without Alaska time. Go do a couple years at Grant and give them a call.

For Sale Alaska Corporate pilot position

No, I would not fly the PC12 for $200k. Perhaps if you had some 135 experience in Alaska you would understand that the job entails substantially more than flying a Latitude around the Lower 48. Experience costs money here, and the equipment counts for a lot. I’ve got 1000 hours in the PC12 and...

    Alaska Airlines explosive decompression 1/5/23

Yeah I just talked to one of my buddies at AS, I guess there isn’t a fix for the AD yet, and they’re hoping that they can start to get some planes back in the air by the middle of next week….

For Sale Alaska Corporate pilot position

That’s about what Island Air Express in Southeast is paying their Caravan/PC12 pilots. Also Bering Air is well over $200k/yr for their experienced guys. I might be interested in flying the PC24 if that ever shows up on property. Flying in Alaska in a lot of places is finally paying what it should.

    Alaska Airlines explosive decompression 1/5/23

AS just grounded all their Max 900s again. I’m guessing maybe they found something on one of their inspections? https://www.alaskasnewssource.com/2024/01/07/alaska-airlines-again-grounds-all-boeing-737-max-9-jetliners-more-maintenance-may-be-needed/

Yes, I would imagine that the actual emergency exits are hooked up to some sort of door warning system.

Another big fat L for Boeing. Can’t blame AS for a brand new airplane attempting to come from together.

Looking for a decent twin, which models to look for?

A bottle of the nastiest rotgut whiskey is still $200 in the village. You can make more via brown jug airways.

    Ercoupe crash: Fitzgerald, GA

This phenomenon even has a name, The Bystander Effect. This last summer I was driving through a busy intersection in town and saw a car on fire. The hood was open, and the driver was in the process of discharging a fire extinguisher into the engine compartment, and it did not appear to be...

Yet another I hate modern cars rant

I had a 2018 Honda Accord that would autosteer (kinda) and autobrake. Had it honk down on the brakes more than once when I was passing someone on a one-lane that was turning right. I now have a Jeep Cherokee that does make a lot noises at me sometimes but has never decided to brake (or steer)...

(Piston) Engine Failure Rate: 1/3200 hrs, yikes!

I used to work for a company that put about 20,000 hours a year on IO520s. They had three total engine failures I can think of in 5 years, one was caused by bad fuel (Pilot didn't sump) , one was unknown (the engine ran fine on a test stand) and one came from together. Thats 1 in 33,000 hours...
