I noticed in Foreflight the other day that the notams for later in the day are underneath the ones for later in the month.
Sure would be nice to have the one about the runway closure in 6 hours at the top of the stack don’t you think!
That’s the first time I’ve heard that. I would assume that any ice on the airfoil will affect the lift. It’s pretty amazing that the plane will blow through redline (175knots) no problem at about 85% power. I was at 100% power and 115 knots descending at about 300fpm. It was a 950HP Garrett Supervan.
I had ATC deny me lower once because of ice. I said “Well, I don’t want to go down either, but I don’t have much choice. I can declare an emergency if you want.”
Note how the boots are clean, but the unprotected surfaces behind them are VERY not clean. I quit taking pictures when the tail...
Short of the wings folding up or an engine failure over mountains at night or in imc there is nothing that should end with fatalities in a PC12.
Also, having flown a King Air doesn’t make someone not a newb pilot. The only barrier to entry is to have enough money to buy one, and enough money...
That would be a good start I think. Bringing Pt91 operators of turbine aircraft in line with 135 would be a better option IMO. You wanna fly a PC12? Cool, you get 2 checkrides a year and a line check.
I drove by Hennings boat in Pt Townsend, WA yesterday. It makes me very sad to see it in its current state knowing all of the blood, sweat, and tears he put into it. I hope he is finally at rest.
relatively easy to fly until someone lulled into a false sense of security by a very capable airplane encounters a situation that they don’t possess the skills to fly themselves out of.
It’s happened to lots of people in Pilatus.
edit: I can think of 3 Pilatus accidents in the last several...
I’m a lot more worried about my cell phone illegally gathering information to sell to our corporate overlords than the ol’ drone that comes out maybe once every other month. I’ll keep flying my drone; this is allegedly a free country after all. (HA!)
AC 00-24C recommends a minimum of 20 miles between you and any suspected thunderstorms. I really wish it was a legal requirement and not a recommendation.
