the road to my (your?) own LearJet

Just to set the record straight, Eclipse did not shut down. They did, however, layoff a large number of employees. The press release the company issued said that the General Aviation market has not recovered as quickly as they had anticipated so they do not need to produce as many aircraft...

Who's taking the ATP written in July??

In Ft. Lauderdale the slots were completely booked until after July 31st. I took the test last week and passed, so I am happy to have that behind me. Now, on to the check ride! :wink2: Abram Finlelstein N48KY

Why do Cirrus drivers get such disrespect?

I don't think that attitude is limited to just Cirrus. Most pilots have their favorite airplane and will tell you why any other airplane isn't quite as good. I have found that attitude with every airplane that I have owned and they have ALL been good airplanes. Abram Finkelstein

    very attractive 1/4 Eclipse offer??

Hey, all. I was going to weigh in on this sooner, but it took me a while to get all the way through the Beech Talk comments as well as those on PoA. I am very familiar with both Ted and Ken, who posted many comments on Beech Talk. I have enjoyed reading many of their observations on the...

Cheapest certified turbine single - and no one is buying.

That is correct. The Meridian has a limited useful load with full fuel and it does not have great range. However, I can get my family loaded up and go 750 miles in less than three hours, which is pretty good, and most of the time I want to stop and stretch my legs after that long, anyway...

Cheapest certified turbine single - and no one is buying.

That was funny! As Ken anticipated, I would argue that, although the TBM is an outstanding airplane, all of the single engine turboprops out there are really good and have their stengths. The Meridian is a fantastic, fast and efficient airplane and the PT6 in that application generates...

Costs of Aircraft Ownership vs Renting

I sometimes lie awake at night and think about how much money I would have in the bank if I didn't like airplanes! Abram N301D

Costs of Aircraft Ownership vs Renting

Never! I had a colleague early in my career that owned airplanes. We used to fly together a lot and I will never forget what he used to say: You can never financially justify owning an airplane. You do it because you can afford it and you want it! Abram N301D

    Questions for Qwners

Every time! Each time I have moved up in aircraft I have wondered if I was making a bad decision. Each time I went forward, I wondered why I waited so long. Abram Finkelstein N301D

    Flying in Austin

I got my Private Pilot License at Bergstrom in Austin back when it was still an Air Force base with a really good flying club. My instructor, Virgil Kennedy, who had been an Air Force instructor, stayed in the exact same place after the field went civilian and now has the Austin Academy of...

    First long trip

Gulf Shores is a great family destination. We got stuck there for a couplemofmiurs on a flight from Texas to South Florida and had a blast. Make sure you check out The Hangout, which is a restaurant on the beach. Lots of fun for the kids. We also fly in to Western North Carolina...
