    AC-Aero RV10 Hawk V4

There is a 12 page discussion in the Van's forum about the AC Aero Diesel. It however ends rather abruptly with the guy, who was working on installing it in his RV10, stating that he is "no longer affiliated with the development of a RV-10 firewall forward kit for the AC-Aero Diesel engine"...

    Porsche powered Mooney

Was it this one? Interestingly, I just learned from Wikipedia that a variant of it was also the first fully electric aircraft: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brditschka_HB-3

Money Changes Everything - Experimental Savings

Yes, they are more. BUT: You don't have to deal with all the little crap associated with an ~50y/o airframe / engine / avionics / etc. You don't have to deal with all the little crap associated with a retractable gear aircraft If you want to upgrade your avionics / radio / whatever you go to...

Money Changes Everything - Experimental Savings

I think that unless somebody needs the space of a 4-seater, a RV6/7/9 is a overall a MUCH better choice than a vintage Mooney, for not much more money. Note, that I am saying this as somebody who owns and loves his Mooney M20E.

    Mooney gone?

Lol, suuuure! This is exactly how we look at our M20E. The baggage space of a RV6 / 7 / 9 is simply not sufficient for us, since we like to bring our folding bikes, camping gear of fly for Pilots'n'Paws.

Money Changes Everything - Experimental Savings

You can convert your Sportcruiser or any other S-LSA into an E-LSA. I understand that this only requires some paperwork and a few hundred $$$. No downsides, other than that (I believe) you couldn't use it for instruction anymore. A simple weekend repairman course would even allow you to do your...

6Y9 Flyin Labor Day Weekend 2020

Martina and I will also be out, as this was the only available week to get checked out in a Zenith. Sorry. :(

The Wasabi guys also mentioned in their video issues with the airspeed indicator and that the deviation seems to fluctuate with the power setting. I would therefore agree that it likely has to do with the location of the static port. This is actually a pretty common issue, the various kitplane...

    Raptor Aircraft

Oh man :( : Q: "Will the Wasabi guys being doing the test program still?" A: "My plan is to see if I can comfortably take it into ground effect. After that is determined I'll figure out the next step. However, I can't do anything until I have the updated airworthiness certificate." Others and...

    Raptor Aircraft

OK, now I'm getting confused / concerned. He uploaded a new video in which a states towards the end that he has to 'sort out' airworthiness issues before the Raptor can legally be flown. No further explanation. This is weird, I understand that the airworthiness certificate had been granted a...

    Raptor Aircraft

All the way to getting it ready for it's first flight? This would be awesome! The few that are tracking their status on kitlog pro all have significantly more hours in their builds, even though it appears was whether at least some of them started with fast build kits. Admittedly, though, I don't...

    Raptor Aircraft

Yes, and I would agree that the Raptor appears to be a nightmare to turn into a highly prefabricated kit. That's another reason why I wish that he would have started with a conventional engine and without stuff like a pressurized cabin and a/c. Even without that, it would still be a quite...

What is your estimate of how long it take to assemble a.) the standard and b.) the quick build kit? Velocity assumes 2,000 and 1,000 hrs. Do you believe this is reasonable? Including engine, avionics and interior? Granted, I have only a SINGLE data point of somebody I know in person. But, like...

That's why I said super-fast to build. Maybe somewhere in the 1,000 - 2,000 hr. range. The Velocities take forever to build, I actually know a guy who has already been working on a XL for many, many years, even though he's working on it pretty much every day. By the time you're done with a...

Interesting. So, he went from pulleys to cables running inside of a conduit and then back to pulleys, but with reinforced brackets!? I know that he didn't want push rods but am wondering if this might in the end be the best solution.

Are you sure? The controls video I posted above is from 2017, Wasabi however became involved only late last year. Wasabi posted a video about their first visit: I also just looked up Marc Zeitlin, the designer of the Raptor, who participated in the visit by Wasabi. He is a A&P and has a...

    Raptor Aircraft

Interesting. It also appears as whether he didn't have his hand on the stick. Do you know how he managed to satisfy Wasabi? The only change I recall, in this regards, is that he changed how the pulleys are mounted.

I agree on the weight issue, besides of the engine this is the other big thing that troubles me. Then again, going to a conventional engine would probably take care of much of the excess weight. I agree on the pulley issue and was actually surprised that he went with such a rather flimsy design...

    Raptor Aircraft

Do you have some examples, besides of the engine? He had some issues, like the nose wheel shimmy, which are IMHO not surprising for a new design, which I think have been properly addressed by him. Most of them, as well as the Wasabi video. I'm probably alone with this opinion, but if the...

What open items? If you go to 57:04 one the Wasabi guys (Elliot?) states that figuring out W&B 'was sort of one of the last critical things that we're sort of clicking off trying to get read to fly'. At 57:44 in the video, the other Wasabi guy (Justin?) is saying that Peter and Mark (the...
