    First World Problem

I sure hope not. While it’s all relative I’m pretty sure that’s not where I live. :) When I paid the deposit over 7 months ago they said 3-6 months.

If you talk to Elon Musk about this, ask him where my freaking StarLink is.

Bearing pointers on a G5 HSI with IFD 540 ?

I have the IFD’s and G5 as well. When I got the new software update on the G5 the bearing pointers were there. They annoyed me so I turned them off. I fly IFR regularly and with the IFDs have zero real world use for them.

Midwest POA June Brunch: June 22, 2024 1000 CDT, The Jet Room at KMSN, Madison, WI.

I’d much rather be at Gaston’s. This work only allowing 4 days off a month isn’t conducive to owning a good traveling plane… Hope y’all have a fun one. We’ve enjoyed our 2 trips there!! Drink an extra home brew for me.

Non alcoholic beer is pretty good nowadays.

Good point and I don’t (was just giving the first equivalent to NA beer that came to mind). I’ve been to a few since I’ve met her and she has drug me into them all. She likes them more than me… PS. I married a unicorn. :)

Non alcoholic beer is pretty good nowadays.

I like beer, wine, etc. When I don’t want/can’t have the alcohol part I just drink water, tea or coke. Having NA beer or wine is the equivalent of going to the strip club for me…what’s the point. :) On a serious note, wish you luck with the DR/health stuff Bryan.

I may try to make it. I’d be there around 9 or so. Gotta see if my boy is up for it.

Club in Chicago area for an orientation flight?

Depending on where in the area you prefer, PWK, DPA and ARR. 06C as well but think it’s more of a member thing. The own of IAA at DPA is Bob and has treated me right in the past.

    Beech down northern Wisconsin

Have no idea. Could have ran out of fuel at 240. As airspeed slowed the autopilot nosed over to keep it from stalling all the way down or maybe it disconnected and was trimmed well. Or who knows. I usually wait for the details but just offering a possible explanation of the track log.

Flying an approach to hold reversal with an IFD navigator

Fair enough. Should have said NAV/GPSS depending. Point is to not engage Approach mode till on the FAC and hand or heading bug flying isn’t needed.

Family friendly pilot jobs in Milwaukee

Think it’s all newer TBM’s. More importantly, how much $? I’d fly a tri-motor for the right price. :)

What makes a good student a good student?

If the instructor doesn’t explain the why then they are failing in my opinion. Tim nailed the best student earlier with his ATC comments. I’ve trained both and he was right on. My favorite student was Valuejet’s ceo or founders kid. He was just trying to pacify his dad and just wanted to rack...

Flying an approach to hold reversal with an IFD navigator

No knock on the 480 as it was the king for it’s time…the IFD is many times a better piece of equipment and does tell you the entry it’s making. No reason to hand fly or heading fly it. The IFD will nail it. The autopilot just needs to stay in NAV mode until the final approach course is joined...

    Thinking about a Reliefband

My wife recommends a thermos of Pinot Grigio. :) While I don’t have that issue, I’ve always been curious if they really work or are snake oil?

    UND Crash…reversal of Germanwings

Yes. Second class. Same docs, forms, and possible issues pilots face.

Flying an approach to hold reversal with an IFD navigator

My SOP from flying a ton of coupled approaches with the IFD is to not engage approach mode on the A/P until inbound on the final approach course when a reversal is present. Give it a try and see if that fixes it. Good luck!

    HELP! Insurance Claim Denial

Wonder if insurance would pay for the flight check of the new PAPI’s if required? That could make the price of PAPI’s go way higher.
