    Rough River 2022 (2I3) 4/22 - 4/24

Considering he usually takes off, then lands back home because of clouds. Then takes off and lands back home because of turbulence. Then takes off and has a 60 KT headwind…you must be crawling backwards to be twice as slow as him to fly-ins. :)

    R22 vs Hughes-Schweizer H269C

Just gilder and seaplane really. Learning to hover/fly a helo was some of my favorite flying. Looking forward to seeing how bad I got after a two decade break. I do enjoy TX but the lady and I have it narrowed down to Southern Appalachia.

    R22 vs Hughes-Schweizer H269C

Pocket is on fire!! Step 1= Find retirement property down south. Step 2= Knock out my aviation bucket list.

"Stand-by" as response for VFR flight following?

In turn yes. But depending on higher priority duties, probably isn’t chronological. They are humans and that’s why the book says for the caller to re-establish contact if lengthy. STAND BY− Means the controller or pilot must pause for a few seconds, usually to attend to other duties of a...

"Stand-by" as response for VFR flight following?

I believe in other than G airspace, they can. That said, I never have and probably never will. I would explain my compelling reason why I think you should stick with me for a bit and if you don’t acquiesce, I cut you loose.

"Stand-by" as response for VFR flight following?

The controller did the exact correct thing by the book. 7−8−4. ESTABLISHING TWO-WAY COMMUNICATIONS Class C service requires pilots to establish two-way radio communications before entering Class C airspace. If the controller responds to a radio call with, “(a/c call sign) standby,” radio...

    Helicopter Down FL

Wonder what the correct procedure is. Seems like during high speed nap of the earth you’d bottom the collective and back on the cyclic to trade airspeed for altitude till at auto speed then forward to maintain that speed to the flare/full collective. Is that just dead man’s land?

    Planeless

Ha ha. In the squadron bar I could show you without a trail my employer WOULD use against me. She was a solid AF deployed 8, VM, VV, R 10. Real world 4.

First Flight to Sun N Fun planned

Last year close to flare a Skyhawk told to land in the skinny decides to take the main in front of me. I was getting ready to go hard right but the controller yelled at him and he took back off and then was cleared to land further down the runway giving me plenty of room. :)

    R22 vs Hughes-Schweizer H269C

Not really. Just knocking off bucket list aviation stuff. I’m a little rusty on the Robinson SFAR stuff. Given my already logged 40 hours wouldn’t it be an easy transition if I ever got a 44?

Funny story along these lines… During my paint job 2 years ago in FL the secretary called and asked if they could use my plane in a photo shoot. (It was still in the process.) I said sure. A couple days later she sent me pictures I can’t share here…

    R22 vs Hughes-Schweizer H269C

Little over 20 years ago I got about 40 hours in an R22 working towards my helicopter commercial add on. Got sidetracked and didn’t finish. Randomly thinking about finishing that up for fun the other day and see the closest helo school has a H269C. For those in the know… @Velocity173 and...

Maybe review local airports not listed in the NOTAM as well. This past year the told me to turn left to Winter Haven. I was lucky my wife was a TPA controller and was right seat. She told me fly east it’s the airport over there. Wasn’t listed anywhere in the procedure.

    Cessna 205 Engine popped

I was thinking the same and the video didn’t start till after the failure. I was guessing he didn’t have the camera on and started it after getting the plane under control?

What do you look for in airplane videos/channels?

I think Brad nailed it here. Just do you, fly your normal flights, be yourself and keep it fun. Worst case you’ll have personal videos you enjoy later in life. Maybe it catches traction if that’s what you want. If you force it, people will know and not watch. @SixPapaCharlie is truly a...

What happens with glass cockpits if there's a cyber attack

You’ll have to verify with @eman1200 but I’m fairly certain the Aspen glass will red X in this situation….and many other situations.

At least instead of killing the engine, he over-torqued 2 cylinders to force them to pop off in flight. Evolution
