Flight following - not sure why I didn't use it before

And if someone is on FF I’ve probably seen your erratic altitude. I’d vector that VFR away from you to ensure the targets don’t merge.

    Starlink Beta - Impressive

Does StarLink have one you can order ahead of time? I haven’t seen it.

No, ads-b won’t show a primary. I enjoy ATC issuing me those calls. Another benefit is, if you lost the engine you’d already be talking to them and they’d have S&R on the way before your questionable ELT could find your position. Could make the difference in life or death.

    Interesting and unusual airport/runway/taxiway designs

If you had enough delay on the mic for the captain to show you where the box was you’d have been aggressively progressive taxied. :)

    Starlink Beta - Impressive

I’ve been on the list (with revised updates…now saying middle 22) for 1 1/2 years. A question for those who got it recently. When they notify yours is ready for shipment, do they not ask about the roof mount then? Y’all are getting it then having yo wait again considerable time for the mount?

    No airways

Just ask on the way up there what the MVA is along the shore when talking to the appropriate controllers. I’m guessing they have radar coverage and an MVA that would allow 4 (or lower) if icing is a concern. Get past CLE and go direct. I’ve flown that area a few times but always higher. Also...

Sun n Fun 2022 - Who went / Is there??

Glad you’ve enjoyed it Brad. We have a west coast attempt but fail coming up soon. Whenever I get caught up on editing. We weren’t able to make SnF this year (work). We’ve been the past several and really enjoy it. Last year was her final OSH/SnF fly-in. I pushed her too hard. We flew non-stop...

Sun n Fun 2022 - Who went / Is there??

We’ll said. I’d probably also throw in: US, UK, Europe, Africa and Australia with the modest south-east Asia. Point being even though you may have never worked a flying job. You know a thing or two about aviation and I’ve really enjoyed following your journeys. There are very few all inclusive’s...

Sun n Fun 2022 - Who went / Is there??

For example, I know a guy in the oil industry that has flown GA all over the world. I’d find him way more knowledgeable about aviation than a dude that has only worked a real flying job in one US state. :)

Drunk driver hits 2 aircraft and fuel truck at Dallas Love Field

Sounds like they don’t know how to drive in mud or turn off the traction control so the mud tires can’t do their job and self clean. As a life long redneck I’ve been it tons of mud and will take the mud tires over stock any day. In my new 2500 HD I wanted to ride out the stock A/T’s tires till...

    Itinerary for Michigan tour

Consider Put-in-bay on the way from GA to MI. We’ve flown into Mackinac island several times and enjoyed it.

    GFC-500 question

My understanding is you turned the AP on and it captured current pitch and bank. Then you selected nav and that controlled the lateral. You were still in pitch mode. Gently pushing wasn’t going to do anything. You needed to CWS and reset pitch or push hard to disconnect the AP. When you selected...

    What is this hand signal?

I think of it from the movie 13 hours (where the US Consulate was attacked in Benghazi). It was a symbol the locals used to say all’s well.

Do You Think Airlines Will Ever Pay For Training?

I have about 8 years left. There’s a few guys doing corporate jet charter stuff at our airport with pretty flexible schedules. Thinking I’m more likely to go that route for the flexibility. If I can find one of those unicorn jobs then. While I could go 121 for 16 years after I retire I’m not...

Practicing IFR Approaches at MIL Airfields

When I was doing instrument rating training around ATL around the turn of the century I’d depart FFC and fly around ATL every night shooting approaches along the way. Dobbins always gave me a PAR but had some blurb about low approach only, wheels can’t touch. For that month I could hear the ATL...

    Signature to buy Tac Air

They waived all the fees on a dog rescue I did as well. That said, I still used any other option if available.
