FBO Self Serve not being checked for a month.

Approach it from a positive standpoint. Tell your boss that you want to learn more, and ask how the fuel operation is maintained. Ask if you can start being part of checking fuel quality, keeping it running well, and handling paperwork.

    Liability waivers

Most of those guys flying Young eagles have more experience and are better sticks than the CFIs. Many of them actually are CFIs, as well as ATPs with hours in five digits.

Buy Me Some Peanuts And Cracker Jacks

All that phrase means is that if someone wants to accept it, they are assured that it’s real money. Nothing says they shall have to take cash - not on the dollar bull itself, not anywhere in statutory or case law. Personally, I vastly prefer using a card or Apple Pay. More convenient, don’t...

Fatal Crash XLL 9/28/2022 - CFI McPherson charged with Involuntary Manslaughter

The FAA did not allow him to be employed as an instructor. If you want to the FAA to have so much oversight of flight schools that it never could happen again, you’ll need to convince Congress to increas their budget by magnitudes. They’d have to distribute, on a daily basis, every certificate...

Fatal Crash XLL 9/28/2022 - CFI McPherson charged with Involuntary Manslaughter

Being so easily disturbed can contribute to conditions that cause loss of a medical certificate. Might wanna take Sgt. Hulka’s advice right about now.

Fatal Crash XLL 9/28/2022 - CFI McPherson charged with Involuntary Manslaughter

What are they supposed to do beyond taking his flight privileges? Take his car so he can’t go to the airport? Hire a skywriter to spread the word? Jail him pre-emptively?

Buying my first airplane and have couple of concerns

Did you ask why they overhauled the engine? If it was properly overhauled and the prop repaired properly or replaced (most likely), it isn’t much matter for concern, especially given that it happened 16 years ago and the plane presumably has flown plenty since then. Lesson for anyone else...

91.126(b)(1) - Yes, Virginia, it is regulatory.

“Okeechobee, traffic, Cessna 1234A, RNAV 5 at FINLO.” Turned out to be a several hundred hour private pilot who flies just enough approaches to be current on paper. A couple days later: “Okeechobee traffic, Bizjet 4567B, straight in 5, landing in three minutes.” He gave ETA updates at two...

Looking for a 2 seater, I know this is a lot to ask for...

The buy-in will be on the higher side, but an RV-4/6/7/8/9 is fast, fun and burns 8-9 an hour. The downside is you won’t want to sell it. I sold my -8 to get a bigger plane and am regretting it.

when you don't have your maint. logs with you?

Print it, and when you get home, cut it to fit the logbook page and attach it with a glue stick. I assume an electronic signature and emailing it would do, too.

Aircraft owners thoughts on IA requirement for annual inspection

We had three different used vehicles over the years, for a total,of 26 years of ownership in California. Only one had a smog problem. That was my first vehicle, a ‘66 Chevy pickup that I owned for a few months in ‘85. Even though it was made before smog equipment existed, it had to get a smog...
