Hey old people, tell us what you can't do!

I’m only 57, but my arms aren’t long enough for reading anymore. I don’t have the tolerance, or enjoyment, for alcohol like I used to. Beer in particular just doesn’t sit really well anymore, but my appreciation for wine is way up. I really cleaned up my language. My swearing is down to maybe...

Tach to Hobbs conversion for logging

Look at watch. Write down time. Taxi. After landing, stop completely at some point. Write down time. Do the math for how much time passed. Log it.

    Eviation redesigned Alice

It looks like something from Martin Aviation Group, if anyone remembers that Next Big Idea.

    Eviation redesigned Alice

Compare the size of the engineering staff and the company history and experience of Boeing at al versus the startups designing electric aircraft.

    Growler Down

My next door neighbor is a retired F-16 pilot. He told me about a bird strike, probably a vulture, at 500+ knots that cracked the structure inside the leading edge extension. A friend of his was killed by a similar bird strike.

    iPad mini 7 announced

My Mini 5 is going strong and every app I use runs well. Same with my iPhone 12. I upgrade when either the battery won’t hold a charge or it’s out of memory or speed for current apps.

    Weekend Recap

I was with my neighbor in Lance 91V. I chatted with a few guys but didn’t catch too many names. Mostly just hung out and enjoyed the company. It was impressive how big and well-organized it was, especially with how short the spin-up was. My friend has since sold the Lance, but I’d I’d wind up...

"US President" goes bananas on Frontier flight

Plus a lot of people who need mental health treatment don’t get it because a prevalent attitude in society is to let them be themselves, or to avoid medication, or not confine them to a facility, and some more weak sauce. We can’t return to the medieval sanitariums that led to the current...

"Inspected oil filter, found no metal" - myth or reality?

I had elevated silicon on one analysis, which Blackstone said was likely due to filtration. It was. RV’s with a carb use a K&N donut filter inside a fiberglass airbox. Over time, the filter deforms from being squeezed, and mine was at that stage. New filter, fly and put on hours, and next oil...

    Insurance cost of Milton

A similar thing has been known to happen with old Cessna twins that no one wants to buy, but instead of a hurricane it’s a gear-up landing.

    Florida in Crosshairs Again…. Milton

It’s been revised to five dead and 25+ to the hospital. Still tragic, but not as high a death toll as originally reported. Looks like reporters took “casualties” to mean dead.

    Florida in Crosshairs Again…. Milton

Our county (St. Lucie) was hit with multiple tornadoes today. Our airpark is okay so far. A former neighbor is in the hospital after the mobile home park he moved to a few miles north of us was hit by a tornado. Reports are 25+ dead. We’re on an extended road trip in California and all we can...

    Bed bugs on American airlines

I really prefer hotels with laminate floors instead of carpet, and don’t put my suitcase or clothes on the bed. A few months ago in Tennessee, we’re in a hotel room and at about midnight, a couple bugs crawled across us. Not bedbugs but some other small insects. The night clerk immediately...

Upcoming AD for many more PA-28 and PA-36 wing spars. 100 anomalies and 6 cracked wings found

Well, if anyone thinks their Cherokee 180 is a POS because of a small handful of planes that were beaten up by neanderthal puppy mill flyers, I’ll gladly take it off their hands.
