    Beard guys, some tips?

Yeah, the smashed-beard-while-sleeping thing is definitely an issue, but his usually springs back to an acceptable shape within an hour or so. When it doesn't is when it needs to be trimmed.

    Beard guys, some tips?

Apropos nothing, I love beards. My husband has a wonderful beard. When we got married, I told him that if he ever shaved his beard, I'd divorce him. His grows in different directions, but we keep it shaped, so you don't really notice. But it has to be fairly full (read: longish) in order to...

Touch Screen Avionics are frustrating. (Get off my Lawn!)

Oh my goodness, I have that problem, except the opposite! When I say "two", ATC invariably repeats it back as "three" (or "tree"). What? I had to resort to saying "twooooooooo", which takes time because my tail number is "twooooooooo, twoooooo, delta".

    Two biggest lies (revised)

I was shocked the other day when I made a call, and one of the menu options was to talk to a real person. I selected that option and lo and behold! I immediately got a real person! And she actually knew what she was doing, too. In contrast, my husband has been trying to figure out why the...

    Where to retire?

When I retired, everyone asked me where I was going to move to. I said, "Move?? Why would I want to move? This is God's country!"

Thinking about a pair of New Balance sneakers.

Hoka One Ones are awesome. Most comfortable walking shoes I've ever had. I've found that either my feet change or the shoes change over time--or both. What used to work for me one time doesn't the next. I have to start all over. If "feel" is your criterion, you can't go wrong with very...

    preflight question from The Wife

It depends. Sometimes it's short for "the wife who.....", as opposed to "the wife who....(something else)"

    preflight question from The Wife

How about "my wife" or even better, "Sarah (or whatever her name is), my wife". But I won't belabor the point.

    preflight question from The Wife

I don't get this sensitivity about weight and age among women, and I say that even though I've been overweight from time to time. It would never occur to me to lie about my weight to a pilot, just as it would never occur to me to lie about my age. (Of course, unlike some women, I spent much of...

    Show Us Your Pets!

We have two, Snickers and Oliver. Snickers is the black dog, Oliver the mostly white dog. Snickers was Don's dog when we got married. She's about 16 years old and feeling her age, with kidney problems. But when it's time to go up the hill to do her business, she scampers right along. She is...

    Nobody's talking about Meatloaf?

You must have posted incredibly quickly after I first posted because I immediately corrected it. Of course, I meant Jerry Garcia.

    Life-Changing Bands (or Songs)

Tailgating at a Grateful Dead concert tops Jimmy Buffett (I love JB, by the way).

    Life-Changing Bands (or Songs)

I don't even know where to start. I'd have to say the Beatles because I was just the right age when they hit--13. One of the defining moments in my life was the Beatles concert I went to at the Cow Palace near San Francisco; I was so mad at all my friends for screaming. Later, it would have...

    Nobody's talking about Meatloaf?

I didn't like Meatloaf, was barely aware of his music. I'm still mourning Jerry Garcia.

    Any economists here?

I'm usually allergic to debt, too, but in this kind of case, don't mind. After seeing Ventucky Reid's ploy, I'd have to agree about what you're saying, but I still think I did OK. Again, I get use of the money all the time I'm paying it off, and I'm willing to risk the unlikely event of it...

    Any economists here?

Well, the problem with that video is he didn't make the case (or I sure didn't see it) that MSRP isn't jacked up to make up for the loss. He threw in the seemingly irrelevant point about the Plan As. Unless he was saying that, because the Plan As are fixed, so are the MSRPs. If that's what he...

    Any economists here?

Now THAT is clever. Not sure it would work in today's market, but it's pretty brilliant.

    Any economists here?

They did not push the financing at all and, in fact, I was talking about buying it outright until fairly far into the discussion, when I thought to ask about zero-interest loans. However, I convinced myself (sort of) that they're at least not losing too much money. If inflation continues as it...
