NA - Living trust for real estate

I have a trust. The main reason is that almost all the wealth is on my side and I married my husband late, when I was 60. He has two children and I have none. If I die before him, I want him to have use of the money to support himself, but then when he dies, have any remaining money pass to...

    Talk about out of control...?!

Exactly. My dad worked for United Airlines. He got involved in some kind of project with the military and was just shocked at the waste. As an engineer who was always looking for better, cheaper, and more efficient ways of doing things, he was just so demoralized by the experience.

A Socio economic discussion about boomers.

I'm on the front side of the baby boom. I think the analysis isn't too far off, but I also agree with @172andyou that there are ameliorating factors. The other thing is, apparently baby boomers are staying in their largely paid-for houses, at a higher rate than predicted, rather than moving...

What are we all thankful for this year?

I am thankful for my family and friends. I am thankful to God for giving me what I needed to have a very successful career that became a passion that I am still pursuing in "retirement" and for all the "luck" I've had in life. I am incredibly grateful to have been born American. As imperfect...

    Physician's assistant AME?

To follow up: I did write her a letter, but failed to indicate it was confidential. So it was opened by the admin, who called me. We had a very good conversation, and she was quite disturbed to learn that the PA had told me she could issue FAA medical certifications. The admin already knew...

    Physician's assistant AME?

I went to look up AMEs for my area, and was confounded by having to select between First Class AME, Employee Examiner, and HIMS. What the heck is HIMS? And I don't need a first class medical.

    Physician's assistant AME?

Yeah, that's the problem. As for reporting her to the FAA, I'm not going to do that. What I AM going to do is write her a letter and tell her that if she's giving out medical certificates, she is risking her patients have their pilot certificates yanked.

    Physician's assistant AME?

@TCABM said if she's a state-licensed physician in my state, she can do Basic Med. Here's the definition (sort of) from the Idaho government web page: "Each physician assistant must be licensed, registered or certified as a physician assistant in any state, territory or jurisdiction of the...

    Physician's assistant AME?

Ha. Neither she nor the MD in that practice is in the database.

    Physician's assistant AME?

I was hoping you would reply. There was an AME in that office, but he retired years ago, and so far as I know the only MD in the office isn't an AME. I did not know I could look it up, so I'm going to do that. Thanks for answering, Dr. B (and for everything else you've done to help me).

    Physician's assistant AME?

My family doc is a PA (with some kind of extra suffix; C, I think). She insists she issues FAA medicals. I didn't think a PA could be an AME. I don't want to really grill her (yet), but my medical renewal is coming up early next year and my regular AME retired (I wish they would stop doing...

Recommended investments in high interest environments

I know lots of people who chase returns. I also know lots of people who diversify and hold (preferably in low-fee mutual funds). So far, the latter group consistently does better, partly because they incur lower fees. Rebalancing on a regular schedule means you're always selling high and...

    And here we go!

Our two local teams are the perennial awfuls, University of Idaho Vandals, and Pac-12 remnants, Washington State University Cougars. The Vandals are 7-2, to everyone's surprise (to be fair, they have made lesser bowl games a couple of times in the last several years, but this is their best...

Non-aviation: advice for selling first house

This thread is a great example of "ask 10 people for their opinion and you'll get 12 different answers".

What do you consider life changing money

Exactly. My husband laughs at me for getting irked over a couple dollars' difference in price of one thing while I easily pay 100s for something else. I keep telling him, the reason I can do the latter is that I've done the former all my life (BTW, we haven't been married very long because we...

    Airline passengerage

I was once in a window seat in one of those tiny turboprops (I think it was a DASH-8) with a 300+ pound woman next to me. She knew she was crowding me and spent the entire flight with her arms tightly folded in front of her. I was sympathetic (having struggled with weight myself, fortunately...

Were there always this many wildfires?

The worst year in Idaho by far was 1940 (or somewhere around there). They're not more common, just more destructive because people are now building a LOT more stuff in the woods.

What were YOU doing at 14 y/o?

Dishing on the Beatles, although I might have already outgrown that by the time I turned 13. Other than that, it was too long ago for me to remember what I was doing.

What do you consider life changing money

That right there would be pretty life-changing. I'm going to say $10M. I'd buy a new RV, and probably buy or build a new house (might just tear down the one I'm in and rebuild it, as I like where I live). As for a new airplane, I don't think so. Might hire a corporate jet once in awhile, but...
