Altitude Directives in VFR Flight Following

Say “unable”. They probably also said “maintain VFR” somewhere in the conversation too. Even if they didn’t you’re VFR and unable.

    Do's and don'ts

I did say if-then. Do you disagree with that premise? If so, why? It’s difficult to disprove a pretty unlikely statement that methylphenidate is being handed out like the Whrmacht. I’d like “her” to prove that’s the case, even at “her” school. Of course not. And RARELY in this age are they...

Altitude Directives in VFR Flight Following

Must admit, I'm not following you either. Are you thinking that, since 91.3(a) says "The pilot in command of an aircraft is directly responsible for, and is the final authority as to, the operation of that aircraft", they're not subject to ANY following regulations? That seems to be the case...

    Do's and don'ts

Wow. You sure seem to have a really interesting “education” and speak a bit “unusually” for a 17-year-old high school Junior. Seems more like, maybe, the Steve Bannon Honor Graduate from TCU*? Yeah, ruby red zone. *Tucker Carlson University

    Do's and don'ts

Because if it’s “normalizing” an incorrect - intentionally misleading - narrative, such as Schedule II drugs being “…hand(ed) out like the Wehrmacht”, it would seem to be feeding an overall narrative disguised as a “legitimate” conversation. If this a post by a no-kidding high schooler with...

    Do's and don'ts

The Troll Meter is reading high yellow here. “…my high school hands out Methylphenidate like the Wehrmacht” I’d like to see some evidence ANY school is “handing out” a Schedule II medication without a prescription and/or documented evaluation. If it’s a school nurse (properly) dispensing doses...

    Supreme Court: Chevron Deference

I may be wrong but this is the kind of thing I suspect will be happening very regularly because of the Chevron decision, especially for any new regs: https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/politics/2024/07/02/supreme-court-osha-federal-workplace-safety-agency/74264842007/ Yes, the case wasn’t...

    Supreme Court: Chevron Deference

I don’t disagree re the preferred fuel can - I have 3 5-gal ones for my gyro plus a 2-gal for my mowers and I hope they never die. I’ll stand by my earlier statement: most regs are because someone did something stupid. I’d be willing to bet that’s fundamentally the issue here. Freedom isn’t...

    Supreme Court: Chevron Deference

Fair enough and I hope you’re right. Although we want to believe our justice system is fair and unbiased, I think anyone of any political persuasion can sense that’s not 100% true. “Follow the money”

    Supreme Court: Chevron Deference

Per the article in my post above, I think we’re gonna lose a lot more than that. The rule making process is a bit more structured than “because we said so”: https://www.federalregister.gov/uploads/2011/01/the_rulemaking_process.pdf Add: IMHO, most (almost all?) regs at any government level...

    Cherokee 180 to Arrow 180

Dakota? A few more kt, much more load carrying, and can climb high enough to make the trips over water less of a factor. And fixed gear. Of course, they aren’t cheap either… While I wouldn’t trade my Warrior for one, I’ve often thought that’d be a serious option if I needed to replace it.

    Cherokee 180 to Arrow 180

How about insurance costs, too? I understand having a retract about doubles the cost, depending on pilot age and hours (and could go north of there). I have a 180hp Warrior and frequently wish it went faster but the cost-per-extra-knot makes it unwise economically, from maintenance to...

How to R&R cylinder on Lycoming

I’m absolutely no genius on this stuff but is lapping #2 (and possibly #1) and/or maybe reaming them a consideration? Can be done in place without the risks/expense of pulling off a cylinder Add: it cost me about $300 to have a valve lapped when they found similar compression in one of my...

These folks need to be stopped.

I completely agree: when visiting my doctor’s office, I was getting called by my first name (which is not what I go by), so they updated my records to show my nickname. Helpful. But being a doc myself and from a different generation (plus a military culture), I’ve always addressed patients or...

These folks need to be stopped.

I want to make sure I understand your post and statements, because this last sentence seems to imply that A) YOUR religion imposes an expectation on MY behavior and B) that results in my obligation to forgive you giving you license to offend. Are those what was meant?

    Approaches with G 275s

I’ve had two 275s for a little over a year and have an old school indicator for my nav (for ILS). My old brain still has to remember the magenta diamond is the equivalent of the white bar on occasion but I get there. I had very little time behind an HSI before this but definitely like it. At...
