    G5 Install question

I have a GMU 11 with my GI 275 in my Warrior. It’s out in the wingtip and doesn’t get any interference from the strobe or nav light. It was installed on the inside of the outer-most rib. Running the wires wasn’t too tough, especially using the fiberglass sticks for running electrical wire...

Is an easy car-like experience what we want in an aircraft?

“While the initial aircraft is expected to cost $500,000 and will operate under experimental rules, the company plans to develop a certified version selling for less than $100,000 in 10 years” Ummmm….

[NA but interesting] Big cylindrical slide rule - anybody ever used one?

Sure - and some are better for scratching the forehead than others…

[NA but interesting] Big cylindrical slide rule - anybody ever used one?

LOL. Somehow that feels like it deserves a significant digit surrounded by two others on each side…

I think slide rules is where I first learned about “significant digits”

    Pushbutton

Sorta similar symptoms in my Warrior a few years back. Turned out the 45ish year old wiring from the PTT had gotten chafed where it came out of the yoke at the bottom. Easy fix. You may want to check there as well.

Any updates, especially with the new antenna installed?

    Runup area to runway priority?

Yeah, you’re right. My bad. I should have stuck with just the long runups.

    Runup area to runway priority?

Except there are some people, especially students on dual flights (understandably) who can take a loooong time to do a runup. Even in your case, if you had a complex clearance and it needed to be read back a few times to sort out errors, it could take you a while.

This is a curious post, especially the link: https://www.pilotsofamerica.com/community/threads/so-student-pilots-who-are-we-and-where-do-we-stand.61619/page-104#post-3537612 How’s your Aunt Whitney doing?

Altitude Directives in VFR Flight Following

Thank you - that seems pretty unambiguous and logical. :yeahthat:

RPM Drops and Recovery during flight

As described I suspect it’s the phugoid oscillations already mentioned. Picture a river with a rock in it and look at the ripples that set up downstream from the rock. Going up the ripple takes more power and slows you down. Going down the back side speeds you up. Same with air, especially that...

    AERA 660 issues

For the broader audience, Jim and I have been exchanging PMs based on a post I made in a similar thread. I suspect an external antenna would help a lot and noted the Garmin GA 25 is available from Spruce for $30 and Amazon has a compatible one for $9. Any of the generic GPS antennas with an MCX...

    Airports with a Hotel...

Another unexpected one is Orange County, KSNA. ACI Jet North is an easy walk to the main terminal, where you can get shuttles to hotels. The FBO was great.

    How accurate are garmin avionics?

I’d say the certified primary instruments are very good. I use two 660’s: one as my “panel” in my gyro and one as an additional moving map for my Warrior (mainly for wx and traffic). Both of my 660’s have external antennas added. You may consider trying that. IIRC Garmin antennas aren’t terribly...

    Airports with a Hotel...

KTUS, oddly enough, though it can be a bit warm for walking much more than across the parking lot in the summer. We tied down at Executive Air and walked to get the rental car and noticed the Four Points we stayed at was about the same distance from the FBO. The Four Points has a fairly decent...

Altitude Directives in VFR Flight Following

Serious question: has anyone experienced or heard of someone being told to call a number or been subject to an official action for not complying with an ATC directive while on FF outside of B/C/D?
