I'm not David, but I do fly part 135 in Alaska during summer months, (except 2020 due to Covid). You'll need a minimum of 500 hrs for a VFR only position in the 135 world. That's legal minimum. Picked up the CFI ticket at 55 yrs old. Now 66 and really enjoy teaching flying. Gives me a little pocket $ too. Go for it if you're so inclined.

I've had a couple of scooters as well. Last was Yamaha 125 Zuma. Great for around town stuff. Would cruise easily at 55 mph. Just stay away from the Chinese stuff. Some shops won't even work on those.

I have a friend who bought a used SR22 for $265k. Low time, PP, no instrument rating. Pays a bit over $5,000 per year after the Cirrus training. So it can be done.

Having worked at Seaplanes, their now-defunct competition, and a couple of other 135s, I believe they have the talent to do so. What they will use for airframes isn't clear. It appears all they bought was the operating certificate as Penair's Saabs were leased. I'd bet they start with Caravans...

Been quite a bit of VFR SEL traffic in and out of LAX lately. This guy was in front of me the other day. The 747 behind him had to wait quite a while for his left turn at the shoreline. LAX tower seems to be happy to see the traffic.

They are anything but tame in a stall. They have both a stick shaker and pusher. Aside from a stall, they truly are a pu**y cat to operate and fly safely. PC12 stall testing with the shaker/pusher disabled.

This was 2010. The airport flooded in 2005 as well.
