    NA: Vehicle transportation service

I've used U-ship numerous times. Vehicles and disassembled aircraft both. Always been satisfied. I know many others that have used their service with no complaints. Not always the lowest bid, but they get the job done.

SoCal / KWHP departure routing question

There seems to be some sort of DP over LHS. I used to fly the WAYVE1 arrival and frequently had opposing traffic at LHS. Most often a FedEx feeder Caravan at 10k while I'm at 11k. But occasionally a Northbound RJ above me.

    Change of career

It's never too late. After instructing for a while to build enough hours for a resume to be noticed, I started flying in Alaska at 55. Started in 207s, then went on to Caravans and now PC-12s for the last few years. I left a construction job that payed reasonably well, but it was boring. Never...

A great place for plane spotting near LAX is the In-N-Out next to 24R.

    Sheppard Air reviews…

From what I've seen, nearly all the ATP holders in your age group have used Shep to get through the ATP knowledge exam. It's seems to be what is largely recommended by recruiters for the regional airlines.

    Should KSMO be Closed?

Oceanside was a done deal as well until the 11th hour. No gas or pilots lounge, no engine overhauler or repair facility. All had moved on. Some of the hangars had even been removed IIRC. Oceanside Pilots Association never gave up. KOKB is now a source of pride for the city with thriving...

    Renting C172

Any rental at KVNY is going to be at the high end of the price range and a 9 hour minimum is nuts. Try Vista Air at Whiteman just on the other side of the valley. Easy drive from VNY. Torrance, KTOA, isn't a bad drive either. I believe there are several rental outfits there.

    CFI headwind mins

As a CFI, 100 kt tailwind is my max. Although I didn't complain about the extra 2. :D

    2006 "Cessna" 400

The PC-12 holds 400 gallons (2700 lbs) of fuel. Fuel in the tanks doesn't produce revenue. People and freight in the cabin does. Model 47s also have a max landing weight 450 lbs less than MTOW. So that can take some planning and/or some very soft touchdowns. When I flew Caravans, I'd sometimes...

I may or may not have looped around a cruise ship now and then.

    Low Time Jobs Alaska

I suspect it's more now as the $35/hr is a pre-Covid number. My employer's pay scale has increased dramatically post-Covid.

    Change of career

I'm a late life career changer. Left a decent paying union construction job and got into flying in the '08-'09 recession. It created a bit of financial hardship for a while as entry level flying didn't pay much then. CFI and some ferry work at first to build time, but eventually got on in...

Can I get some input on a Cherokee 140/160?

2 adults with full fuel may well put you forward of the CG envelope. Adding a few pounds to the rear isn't always an answer either as the allowable forward CG location moves back as weight increases. I teach in a 140 and only fuel to the tabs. But a 140 is a good little short range aircraft if...

    Leaky Lycoming

The seam does leak. As a former motorcycle mechanic, my concern about re-torquing is deforming the case slightly even though these cases are far beefier than a motorcycle case. As and aside, how much is too much? Oil can be seen running down to the cylinders.
