    Ugh. Had to book airlines...again.

When I was traveling for work, I would always get a "provisional" ticket if the distance was too far to drive. Provisional meaning that I could change it for a minimal or no fee. As soon as I was confident that I could fly myself, I would cancel the ticket and use credit towards the next trip...

NEVER ever give someone access to your computer! Especially if they're offshore.

How much space to build a plane (rv14)

The first two sentences of their post was: I sat in an rv14 and am considering ordering one. I have plans to go to AP school in August, goal to become IA to work on and sign off my own plane. There is absolutely no mention of a "Plan A" or "Plan B". Only that they plan to go to AP school and...

    Windows 10 Help

It happens. I've got a couple clients that still are running Windows XP because of software won't run on anything newer. Up until about 3 or 4 years ago there was one that still had a Windows 95 machine for the same reason.

How much space to build a plane (rv14)

If you build it, you don’t need an A&P or an IA for anything. If you buy a completed plane, you’d only need an A&P for the conditional inspection.

    E/AB final weight?

No. The kit manufacture could probably provide some information about this. I know that my Velocity came in at 1,874 lbs. One of the factory built planes came in at 1,670 lbs. I know another builder's plane weighed close to 2,000 lbs. There is a tendency for builders to add weight by...

    Military Helo Rotorwash

I remember stories about signs “dogs and sailors keep off the grass”. And the CO of the Norfolk Naval Base doing a $10 payday where all the enlisted men got paid in $10 bills to show the community how much money goes into the area. Probably an urban legend. But most people know what the...

    Military Helo Rotorwash

I just talked to a friend who works at Oceana. That was about 20 years ago there were talks about closing Oceana and moving the aircraft to Jacksonville. But that was if the city didn't buy up some land around the base to prevent development. He said that he has heard nothing about plans to...

    Nashville BBQ

Used to go to Sonny’s in Tampa back in the 80’s. It was pretty good. Now, it tastes like disappointment.

    Military Helo Rotorwash

The helo’s from Rucker come down to my field often. Even had some Ospreys from Elgin drop in a few times. Unless there’s a good wind, I stay clear for at least 5 min after the helo’s have been here. If the Opsrey’s have been around I’ll stay away for maybe a day. ;)

    Wag-Aero's Demise

Whoa! So now you think a "low level employee" is making half a million dollars per year??? There's no need to re-run the numbers because you'll just keep moving the goalposts.

You're probably right. I suck at understanding tax codes.

    Wag-Aero's Demise

If a "billionaire" gets a million in capital gains for the year. They'll pay 0% on the first $50k, 15% up to $500k and 20% on the rest. That works out to about 16.7%. You don't say what your definition of a "low level employee is, but someone making $100k will pay 0% on the first $11k, 12% up...

    Epley field

If I had lost my Velocity, there's no way I would have been smiling. I can't imagine any payout that would recoup the 8 years it took to build.

Tennessee Senate passes bill outlawing Chemtrails

Whenever I see someone come up with a solution to a climate problem, I'm reminded of things like draining the Everglades, sinking tires off the coast to create reefs, etc. Seems like there's no shortage of people with solutions who don't really understand how the environment works.

Road Bump in Buying a Plane - No Place to Put It

So you state that kits being assembled shouldn't be allowed in hangars. Then you say you weren't talking about kit aircraft. That you were talking about "hangar queens". Then you say hangars should not be used for assembling aircraft. You seem... confused. And it's obvious you also don't...
