    Another “What is it?” Thread

According to what I've read, it's been sitting for over 20 years. I have to wonder why someone is still paying tie down fees.

2 inches bigger and I am having trouble making it fit

I always ran on the larger iPad. It either sits in my lap or next to the seat.

2 Delta workers killed at ATL after tire explosion 8/27/24

Out of curiosity, what's the typical inflation pressure for the tire on something like a 737 or A320?

    ELT frequencies

Correct. Which is why installing the ELT and antenna per the requirements will not prevent the antenna from being ripped off during a crash.

    ELT frequencies

How do those requirements prevent an antenna from being ripped off when the aircraft flips over? I know a guy who waited 4 hours to be found just outside of Orlando because SAR couldn’t find him after his aircraft flipped over rendering his 406MHz ELT useless.

    Grounded for not talking

I used my plane many times for work trips. My work did not allow for not being there on time. So I always had either a provisional airline ticket or left early enough that I could drive. Never missed a start time in 20 years.

Voepass Flight 2283, a large passenger plane, crashes in Vinhedo, Brazil

It's not a question of belief (or semantics). https://www.flyingmag.com/technique-accidents-technicalities-closer-look-what-happened-air-france-447/ Put another way, if the stall can only be held by use of the controls, it's not a deep stall.

Voepass Flight 2283, a large passenger plane, crashes in Vinhedo, Brazil

Still nope. An aircraft in deep stall, is impossible or at least very difficult to get out of. And a deep stall isn't held with control inputs. Once you're in a deep stall, the controls are mostly useless. Peter Garrison covered this. I trust him a LOT more than Wikipedia...

Pipistrel Panthera - The perfect airplane?

And it only took... what? 25 years? That thing was "next year" or "soon" almost since they started. And their website says you can "reserve" one. They have a pair of them on a Velocity Twin. No official performance numbers published yet but looking at the flight tracks doesn't impress me...

Pipistrel Panthera - The perfect airplane?

The number of aircraft, engines and avionics that I've seen displayed at Oshkosh which have never become available is pretty large.

    UPS rant

I've used all the delivery services for overnight letters and boxes. ALL of them have had issues at one time or another. If you haven't had at least a delay using any of them then you either don't use them very much or you're extremely lucky.

Pipistrel Panthera - The perfect airplane?

That's kind of limiting, isn't it? 21.191(d) states: Exhibiting the aircraft's flight capabilities, performance, or unusual characteristics at air shows, motion picture, television, and similar productions, and the maintenance of exhibition flight proficiency, including (for persons...

Yep. I've always gotten a self adhesive label with all the information and signatures that I stick in my logbook when I get home.

Pipistrel Panthera - The perfect airplane?

This person didn’t say they put a deposit down. They said they “purchased” the aircraft. And will they get to fly it? Are there any currently registered and flying in the US?

Pipistrel Panthera - The perfect airplane?

I have a feeling we're being trolled. The account was created in January and the first post was on this thread. I just can't believe that someone would drop that kind of money on an aircraft which has a rather foggy path to an airworthiness certificate.
