    Someone Else's Started Project?

Part of this is going to depend on the DAR. The one who did mine was not completely uninterested in any build logs. He said "I'm inspecting the airplane, not your picture taking and writing skills." I heard the similar stories from builders who used the same DAR. But I also heard from...

    Dark Aero 1

So they did a taxi test in July 2022. Then "Flight Test Preparation" in November 2022. Then in May 2024, they removed the engine and started doing drop testing on the landing gear. Probably won't do the first flight until 2030 at this rate.

    Electroluminescent panels

With respect to “press to test”, I spent a fair amount of time trying to incorporate that feature. I ended up having a discussion with Bob Nuckolls about how to do that. FYI, if you’re flying in a Beechcraft or Cessna, it’s probably got circuits he designed. He told me to not waste time with...

    Electroluminescent panels

I started working on it during my build. But the time/cost/return for a "looks cool" feature wasn't going to pay off so I bailed on it. Resources were spent on an annunicator panel.

    Plexiglass Windscreens - polishing

When got scratches in the windshield and side windows during construction, I used wet/dry sandpaper and worked up to 6,000 grit. Then finished it off with Meguiar's plastx.

    Tankless water heaters

In the summer, to cool off, I take a shower with almost no hot water. Just enough to take the chill off. IIRC, our Navion requires 1GPM. So to get the demand over that, we turn on the sink faucet. Had I known, I would have added a faucet to the shower. :dunno:

    Tankless water heaters

I had one in the shop for radiant floor heating. Worked great! Now I have two for domestic hot water in the house. The ONLY thing I don't like about it is that they have a minimum flow. So if you want a low flow of hot water, you won't get any at all (checked with Navien and they confirmed)...

CENTCOM CC gots some splainin' to do

Shut the thread down everyone. This guy isn't interested. Not sure why he went to all the trouble to click on the thread and then took the time to insert the cute little gif though.

    Annual Inspection Paperwork

Pfft. I think that I've got an 8" hard sectored floppy drive around here somewhere.

    Looking to build an airplane

Ignoring that a Katmai doesn't fit into the E/AB category... I would love to look under the cowling to see the linkage to the elevators. Seems like it would make some maintenance tasks challenging.

    Annual Inspection Paperwork

Then in a couple years when you have a need to look at that DVD, you'll be scouring eBay to find a DVD drive.

Why are people still wearing masks?

If you're "genuinely curious", you would ask the people that you see wearing the mask.

Flying north through Ewr and NY airspace…

I've flown from the Tidewater VA area up to NH seacoast many times. I always filed V16 after Dover. Seems like every time, I overflew JFK at 6,000' or 7,000'.

What plane would you buy in my situation?

I had a similar mission. I bought a 182RG. Easy to load/unload, 150kts TAS, plenty of room and an excellent IFR platform. Downsides are retract landing gear so insurance will be higher and the small tires mean if you're going into a turf field, it should be nice and smooth.

Savannah GA - Cessna Skymaster crash 1 dead

What brings you to that conclusion? The flight time? Fuel capacity on a Skymaster is 92-128 gallons.

    Insurance cost of Milton

Wait. So if they're not insured, what does leaving an uninsured aircraft out on the ramp accomplish?
