    Thinking about a T-6

i'm in the process of buying one right now, they are a great airplane. first off, stalls are not a big issue. accelerated stalls are. spins are also if not handled properly. a good type checkout is a must. but don't worry, the insurance company will require it from a approved instructor...

Austin, TX from above - what to see?

hippie hollow. i assume because of the dam, the island, and the bluffs it makes a great background and its one of jacks goto areas for air to air. he has a lot of fantastic shots over that area. especially around sunset.

    Rachet tie down question

got to disagree with you sir, page field saw gusts of over 170kts during ian. that was before the wind equipment blew away. as to the original post, i have experience in this. during ian my pa28 was tied down on the ramp at KFMY. it had two ratchet straps and a rope on each tiedown. only one of...

    RV inline fuel filter

i have been using the summit version of that for 22 years, never found more than a few specks in it when i clean it. a gascolator on a tailwheel aircraft is just a heat sink. it does no good, as it is not at the low point of the system. most RV's live indoors, and never see rain. put it in and...

Comanche Quirk - How to solve it?

It’s no quirk. There’s to much load on the breaker when everything is on. Have your a@p put the fuel pump on its own breaker.

So what's the deal with insurance?

Ive read the posts you have made about that incident. your case shows everything thats wrong with our legal system. a quick read of the facts showed who was to blame for that crash, but he was dead, had nothing to get, so the lawyers went after the money trail.

    Plastic welding

as capt thorpe said, it depends on the type of plastic. we weld poly pro all day long. its an easy process, if done right its strong, and lasts forever. but it is really depends on the type of plastic.

    Lockheed N93R down at KCNO

shows that complacency and lax checklist use cannot be overcome by hours of experience. i will admit ive been guilty of it. very sad, but a good wake up call for us higher hour pilots.

PA28 down near Ann Arbor, Michigan

another thing that hit me from the pictures that supports a stall spin isi see no lateral tracks from the aircraft, other than those made by the emergency responders. it appears that it came straight down with no forward motion.

Bill Anders, Apollo 8 astronaut, crashes in Puget Sound

i cant help but think g-loc. maybe realized he was a bit lower than he liked and pulled a little harder to tighten it up and blacked out. at that age you just can't handle the g's that you could when younger. what ever it was, RIP general. blue skys and tailwinds.
