    Making a 172 RH window openable ???

Asking about a retrofit of all of the opening framework and hardware into a non opening door. It’s been done before. I just don’t recall what all is needed. Replacing the door works, but you’ll have a lot of hours in paint, prep and fitment. I saw an IA convert one many years ago but I don’t...

    Making a 172 RH window openable ???

Right hand opening 172 Doors are getting harder and harder to find. Has anybody ever ventured down the road of using salvage parts and convert a fixed window door over ? 1964 172 is the door in question. Thanks all.

    Cessna 172 Windshield change

Exactly. Rivnuts will raise the strip.

    Cessna 172 Windshield change

There seems to be a lot of folks who have successfully replaced the windshields without the time spent on removing the strip. Sounds like it’s an easy job if you make a shoe horn jig and high ambient temps.

    Cessna 172 Windshield change

Well, they leak and will be hell for the next windshield job. I almost hate those damn rivets.

    Cessna 172 Windshield change

its 25-30 more hours at $105 an hour. You make it sound like it’s a 2 hour job.

    Cessna 172 Windshield change

The 182 manual says to sit inside with 2 people and push it outward. Makes no mention of drilling the strip.

    Cessna 172 Windshield change

It’s time to change my windshield. The old one is checking pretty bad now. There’s an old guy at the field who swears up and down a skilled AP/IA can swap a 172 windshield without drilling the boot cowl rivets out. He says you bend and warp the top around and you can get the old out and the new...

Cessna 172 fuel sender testing… ohm reading?

Thanks for that write up reply. Right now sitting level, I’m about 5/8 tanks. Right reads way more full than it actually is. Left appears to read pretty correct. This winter I will drain both tanks and fill incrementally and just see what is what. I have a feeling my right sender is erroneous. I...

Cessna 172 fuel sender testing… ohm reading?

So after finally getting around to it… I topped off both tanks. Both gauges read full. About an hour into the flight and the left tank seems to read say, 3/4 or so. The right tank is reading full. After landing, it seems like the right tank reads full or at least way more full than the left. Can...

    Pulsing PAR36 landing lights..???

I saw a local guy with wig wags on his 172 in the wing. I chatted with him about his visibility. He said they are Sunspots and have an internal wig/wag Pulse feature. Great idea and neat. Until I went home and looked them up. That’s $1200 in landing/taxi lights. Holy smokes. I’m Shocked nobody...

Cessna 172 fuel sender testing… ohm reading?

Are these a replacement or is this a system. Meaning you now have to buy and install the gauge and all ?

Cessna 172 fuel sender testing… ohm reading?

My IA is allowing me to learn a little under his supervision. My 63’ 172 gauges read, but they aren’t correct I know. I’d like to ohm out the senders. In my experience restoring muscle cars… it’s 90% almost always the sender. Rarely the gauge. But I’d like to find out. I’ve looked in the manuals...

    DIY gas powered tug

Has anybody ever made their own tug? I just completed my hangar at my private strip. It’s a sloped grassy area to and from the hangar. I like fabricating and building projects. I’m looking into clever designs to build one with all terrain tires until I can get my ramp concreted on day. Thanks all.

    Help with wiring kx165/76A/Audio panel

What would I hear through the nav that would be useful? Pardon my ignorance. That’s a good idea on ms paint. Thanks

    Help with wiring kx165/76A/Audio panel

I know this is painful to some... that I’m using a 165 for only a transceiver. But it’s what I have and it’s in working condition. I think I downloaded the correct diagram for a 165. Am I missing anything for just using it as a Comm? Red=not using, Green =needs to use. Thanks guys.

    Help with wiring kx165/76A/Audio panel

The aircraft had some crusty radios left over from 1873. The previous owner who is also an IA made the tray and bought the newer units pictured. The avionics guy helping me is an AP but specializes more with military avionics etc currently. He’s a sharp guy but he’s not spun up on...
