There are a lot of places in IL where the governor is being ignored. St. Clair and Madison county were on that list until the local health dept got scared of the hospital utilization, but even that mostly covers the non-rural parts of the county based on my observations.
So, in IL, it depends ...
AIM says how to communicate on CTAF. I didn't say anything about patterns or straight-ins.
Not sure how not liking it when someone doesn't follow the rules and guidelines = bias.
There really is no way unless you want to run around with no pants. Just keep an eye on the inflation and check whenever you have them opened up or removed.
I try very hard to ignore taxi instructions while still landing to the point that I will ask the controller to "say again" even if I think I heard it all. Trains me and the controller to not do that (even more important with no training wheel!).
The PA28's just get parked in "big wheel" parking. No laughing as long as you are building an RV at the time!
PS the Rockefeller's spent all of the money on the airport, and the local EAA chapters make it nice ahead of the fly-in. Not sure the state does a thing for the airport these days...
At a big airfield, when it is busy, I concur. I love it though when I'm coming back 5 minutes before the tower closes (COVID hrs), and they have to read this huge list of instructions when 5 minutes later, I figure it out myself.
Next up will be a new thread complaining about why we can't attract new people to aviation.
Welcome Jah-Christo! Not everyone in aviation sits around waiting to criticized newcomers! I am not in the NY area, but I'll bet someone there offers up a ride. If not most flight schools offer an...
An annual/100hr inspection is good. The depth of that inspection is really what I would question, and do since I am the manufacturer of my airplane. FAR 43, Appendix D is very specific some places and vague in others. So what is the right level for the safest operation? I wish I knew the answer...
And the incident here points out exactly someone who lacked that sensibility.
Flutter is serious business. If you want to make some new plane go really fast, it is best to find an expert in flutter.
Van's provides limitations, and it is strongly advised to test TO those limits. Past VNE or flutter testing is strongly advised against doing by most everyone that would advise someone on testing a kit build airplane.
Funny how no one recognizes that where they are located makes a difference:
Cali: "most only have a modest overnight parking fee"
Midwest: "just pick a spot"; "most airports don’t have fees"
The old airframes are also the lightest in the fleet. Weight goes up over the life of a program as things get added. They won't be dogs once the mods are done.
