    KCPS flight training

And a really awesome RV-9 . . . Ideal is great. There is also STL Flight Training (https://www.stlflight.com/). Ideal has nicer airplanes and more availability at a slightly higher price. My only problem with Ideal is that they ditched their FBO business turning us into one of those...

    Requesting climb over airport

I think if you ask they will clear you pretty much how you want. You'll likely get an altitude restriction from tower until you get up with STL approach. PS you could ask for a viking departure, but I think that only applies out of STL.

Next time go for CPS or ALN! All those separated ramps at SUS are a pain.

Doc is back to inject uselessness. Yah!

FAA guidance on Flight instruction LODA in category aircraft. . . update July 8th

Been busy (OSH), but I did get my LODA in a semi reasonable amount of time. Trying to email ahead of their procedure did no good. Also, I now have a .png with a FSDO signature. That won't be useful for anyone with low integrity. As for the whole mess, isn't the FAA familiar with "normalization...

    Oshkosh 2021 Notam - Airventure

I came in Sunday morning at not a great time (mass arrival 36 and 27 may have closed briefly). The new procedure worked well, but the main reason was calling people out, and being able to direct the holds (they used the holds!!!!). There were way fewer line cutters than 2019. I do wonder if the...

    OSH 2021

Where did you hear that? My phone didn't go off for one, and the sirens in town didn't go off. Also, most tornado warnings are now doppler indicated, not spotted.

FYI, good cardiovascular health, but short and fat is ideal for g-tolerance.

FAA guidance on Flight instruction LODA in category aircraft. . . update July 8th

It is so nice that this thread is now pretty much useless. Little boys with huge amounts of excess time on their hands.

    Regarding OSH…

I'd take a look at the NOTAM so you'll be aware, but if you are above the arrival altitudes (departures are below), I'd expect little impact other than there being a lot more traffic than usual. IFR or VFR?

FAA guidance on Flight instruction LODA in category aircraft. . . update July 8th

I'd say it is clearly experimental owners . . . you're screwed. My LODA email is in. From the other thread . . . my local FSDO did reply and tell me to follow the new process. From the email, it sounds like the FSDO will get an approval from some "team" then issue the LODA.

Federal Court Decision: Flight training is carrying passengers for hire

Doc, your point is clearly to defend the FAA at all costs. No one is talking about FAA Order 8900.1, or any wording change to any regulation. The FAA went to court to change the interpretation of the meaning of the words that are already there. The court sided with the FAA, and the FAA...

Federal Court Decision: Flight training is carrying passengers for hire

So the FAA causing much confusion and NOT communicating with their full team makes it better? Oye. How does the letter's author retiring make any difference at all. That is irrelevant. Great that YOU are unaffected, but some of us are being affected. Can you get me a LODA in the next couple of...

Federal Court Decision: Flight training is carrying passengers for hire

I actually got a response from my local FSDO today. Seems they don't know anything about this, so I sent back the decision and letter. Certainly wasn't a quick and easy as its almost a month to find out I know more than the FSDO.

Federal Court Decision: Flight training is carrying passengers for hire

Its really great that we restarted this thread to argue over what regulations say instead of the court case and the FAA letter that basically says yes we are ignoring those regs.

If the wx does improve, there is still a TFR for the plant fire in Rockton apparently. Pretty ridiculous since the fire has been out for days: https://tfr.faa.gov/save_pages/detail_1_9882.html

    Van's RV Building

12 joyous years for my RV-9. Also worked remote (away from the project) for two years, got married, and moved twice during the build, so I was slightly busy.

    This needs to stop

Holy cow. I guess if I have a plug go bad, it is time to go from one PMAG to two! I was planning to do so when I get to the 500hr mag inspection anyway.
