Rochelle, Rochelle . . . FYI, Perryville, MO fly-in on the 20th, so 13th with the 27th as backup sounds good.

What can you tell me about Mackinac?

Horses poo. Roads get wet. Bike tires throw water.

    First time Oshkosh planning

Man I can't believe people still go there. So many better places in OSH now. It used to be good, but the last time I was there mediocre food, long wait, marginally good beers.

    Where to fly in Illinois?

There is a lot of good hiking in southern IL, but you definitely need a car, and a lot of digging to find the good places. Giant City State Park is the obvious place nearby. There is also SIU. The campus is pretty nice, and there are of course some decent restaurants, but nothing I'd go out of...

Do they put freight on RJs?

You are making my point for me. So there is actually MORE last minute travel.

Do they put freight on RJs?

That has reduced air passenger traffic volume in general, but not the percent that are last minute trips the airlines love.

Do they put freight on RJs?

You think business's got better at planning ahead because there was a pandemic?

Do they put freight on RJs?

Business travelers tend to book late, even the day of the flight. Business travelers tend to be less price sensitive. Flights booked at the last minute are more expensive, and much more profitable for the airline. This is not complicated.

What can you tell me about Mackinac?

We went the COVID year since OSH was cancelled. It was probably the best time ever to go as the crowds were down. We stayed at Mission Point with the dog. They back sections of the resort are where they put you with a pet. The buildings are old, but still pretty nice. We very much preferred to...

    Daily Pic

Its a Convair 440 that's been sitting there as long as I've been around the airport. Used to be an old DC-3 next to it, that we got to see again at OSH since they sold it to Bassler Conversions. Anyone need a project?

    Where to fly in Illinois?

Unless you are leaving the city, why would you rent a car so you can pay $30/day to park it and not use it? CTA, Uber, Lyft . . . or taxi if desperate.

Next time taxi 4 rows down and look left for any open hangar doors! I was working while you were out plaything this time though.

How to get started after long layoff?

I had a 9 year hiatus (though now long ago). I was fortunate that the airspace classification change was just prior to the hiatus, so I learned that. More recently the shift to GPS and EFBs is a big change. So, you've got a lot of academics to catch up on. You are definitely going to need either...

UPS 767 stuck in mud at BHM

While working on my RV at the hangar one day at St. Louis Downtown (KCPS), I heard a relatively large Delta airliner (I don't remember what exactly it was) on the radio telling the controller that he couldn't use taxiway B1 because the aircraft exceeded its limits. The controller insisted...
