Question about the seemingly unscheduled things at Osh

If you want times for airshow acts, the only way I know of is to check the office in the NE corner of exhibit hanger D. They post a list in the morning for each day.

    RV-9, anybody have one?

Love my real RV-9. That nose wheel thing is unnecessary :p.

Question for those smarter than me

Conceptual design art from companies that have never built an airplane before is always fun. You may be smarter about airplanes than 99% of the people who work there. Doesn't look like they thought about prop clearance on T/O and landing either.

You mean "when there is serious weather"? Stake the tent well and ride it out.

    Clowning around?

Crimes, oye. Do you realize that balloons go where the wind takes them? Sure they sort of plan a landing area, but its not the same as a powered aircraft. I bet you would have actually enjoyed the event and learned something had you gone over a struck up a friendly conversation . . . especially...

Icon A5 lands on river causing inadvertent fire department response

I'm pretty sure they could get a park ranger to look east and see if there is a plane crashed in the river vs bringing three police vehicles and two fire trucks.

Icon A5 lands on river causing inadvertent fire department response

The demo pilot was on the local news last night. Seems like a reasonable guy. They are operating out of KCPS, so it'd be a much bigger story if he ignored the tower! Also, apparently fire and police responded two days in a row. Are they idiots or just bored?

Wow. Wheel-pant-phobia is apparently a thing.

Cessna 414 down in Yorba Linda

It's more complicated than that. Critical AoA is a simplification that works well for non-swept wings with no leading edge extension. Also, its the airplane generating lift, not just the wing. The lift curve for tactical jets is generally determined through at least 180 degrees (+/-90) angle of...

    Midfield Takeoffs

I land long often (30L at KCPS going to the NW ramp). There is temptation to cut it short often, but I avoid it. Taxiing a mile takes two whole minutes. Then there is this: https://www.ntsb.gov/_layouts/ntsb.aviation/brief.aspx?ev_id=20150602X70621 " Instead of using the full runway length of...

Overhead break, teardrop or fly the missed?

You mean you've been seeing exactly the FAA published alternate entry from earlier this year: https://www.faa.gov/documentLibrary/media/Advisory_Circular/AC_90-66B.pdf I'm not a big fan of it, but I would not be surprised to see people following the newest guidance.

    A C172 into Lambert KSTL?

Lately, I'd be a lot less worried about waiting for an Uber near the stadium after a game than using Metrolink late at night. Also, if the game goes too late, your ride goes away.

    Maple syrup, meh, meh, yuk!

How is Maple Syrup "organic" anyway? It comes from a tree that has been there a long time. You know other than that all carbon based life forms are organic.

Do You Call UNICOM in Your Small GA Aircraft?

I've only got one radio too, and I certainly am not going to turn it off of the frequency that is keeping me safer just to please you. I'm showing up to give you business, so you should learn to appreciate that.

Airport Restaurants in the area of IL/MO

You could also fly past ALN to CPS, take a crew car, and have all of St. Louis's restaurants available (Pappy's, Bogart's, the entire Hill neighborhood, Crown Candy Kitchen, Baily's Range, Sugarfire, Molly's, Tuckers, McGurks). Those a just the places close by. A meetup there wouldn't be too...

    Open cockpit?

Kevin is great at least for my learning style. He let's you do things your way, and gives just the right amount of guidance to get you doing it better. PS I am probably biased at this point. There is a really great unpainted RV-9 in the hangar across from the one he keeps at KCPS ;).
