    Lycoming Engine replacement

I've been thinking about just this lately. While a little 15x isn't exactly my dream plane, I wouldn't mind having one. Economical to operate, and could knock around local and short x-countries knocking off the rust on my PPL....but not economical if an engine issue that really should be...

Which way to install motor mount bolts.

But could it be that you just don't have whatever specialty wrench was designed for that application? Maybe it's a low profile wrench...a stubby wrench.... a right-angled wrench...etc.... I'm not at all suggesting that this is the case here....just saying that I'm not going to be always...

New to tent camping, need ideas for possible Sun n fun

I suggest to pay attention to the port o john clean out trucks...and try to be the first to visit as they pull away. Smells better and it's a lot cleaner.

    C150 or C152

I keep thinking that it looks sort of like fretting corrosion....or otherwise worn from something like a rope stretched across the blade and sawing back and forth but it does sort of look like there is some displaced metal...basically bulges of metal above and below the notch. It is odd though...

good movies I might not have seen?

some good ones here...and some I can't find at all.... We have really enjoyed Reacher and we're all caught up on that one ditto Bourne...although I have been threatening to go back to the original one to show my wife what it was before the remake series. I remember watching that one way back in...

Masters of the Air--coming to Apple TV

I don't think it's as bad as so many of you are making it out to be. Arguably not the most awesome movie ever...and yeah some of the CGI and other stuff missed the mark, but some of it was quite good I thought. The red-tails thing really felt out of place..... a whole story about a bomb group...

Man who crashed snowmobile into a parked Black Hawk helicopter suing government for $9.5M

I wonder where on the airport the blackhawk was parked. That map makes it seem that the trail runs right down the middle of the ramp and runway....so yeah, I can imagine the helo parking on that ramp area at the North end...seems like a perfectly reasonable spot to park and expect to be safe...

What's the deal with CFII's that don't want to fly IMC?

I've noticed the same thing over the years. I was lucky. The guy I did the 2nd half of my PPL with, as well as my IR, took me in the clouds at every opportunity. I was single without a lot of obligations outside of work and lived close to the airport.... so he'd call whenever he had a VFR...

A letter from the Southeast United States

I don't intend to stall and spin this conversation, but at the risk of doing so I'll add my comment For reference I've lived in the South most of my life and all of my adult life...and I've lived in FL since 1994 The rate of construction happening around here lately...and the number of folks...

    Hangar as an investment?

I find this to be an odd concept. Around here, and as far as I know, there is no private ownership...It's either all the hangars are owned by the municipality and are rented out....or in some cases maybe the FBO owns them and rents them out. I'm pretty sure that all around here are municipal.

N/A, FM antenna question, FM neck-loop

yeah, some are funny about their spot. I can get a little twinge of that about my parking spot at work for some reason that I can't understand..... We're not that specific about our spot in church.... pretty much anywhere in the South Transept works for us. I personally would prefer anywhere...

N/A, FM antenna question, FM neck-loop

thanks everyone! I called Listen's tech support yesterday afternoon. Nice guy and seemed to take the time to try to help, but didn't really have much for me.... Learned, like someone else pointed out here, that the antenna for the receiver is the ground conductor in the neck loop. I wish I'd...

N/A, FM antenna question, FM neck-loop

Sounds like maybe a looped room or looped area and you have T-Coil mode turned on I'm coming up on 3 or 4 years now with these things and have yet to find one of those looped rooms. I understand it's much more common to have them over in Europe. I sure do wish they would loop our church. I...

N/A, FM antenna question, FM neck-loop

That was the first thing I tried asking for....but I guess the audio guy isn't interested in extra work. Truthfully, there probably aren't many people who use the system, so arguably not worth the effort and expense perhaps... and bouncing back to Russ' suggestion....that's the first thing he...

N/A, FM antenna question, FM neck-loop

ha ha my only response is :dunno: I tried that, but my wife doesn't like sitting over there. I can't understand why. Maybe she takes pleasure in knowing that I have static in my ears Or maybe she just doesn't like it when I hear what the priest has to say....

N/A, FM antenna question, FM neck-loop

I have this FM receiver. It's a neck-loop device that interfaces with my hearing aids through the teli-coil function. It's a small box that hangs like a pendant around my neck, the "neckless" being the t-coil magnetic transmitter emitter. This receives an FM radio signal, 72 MHz. I use it in...
