    New panel for a 206

I'd ditch the idea of the G5s and go with GI 275s instead.

Moving on to ring lights might be an option.

Why are people still wearing masks?

I said "maybe", so yes, "really".

    Vultures...correct last second maneuver?

I've had countless close calls with buzzards. They're a bigger hazard than aircraft here in Georgia. FAA needs to require buzzards to carry transponders.

Why are people still wearing masks?

Maybe the people wearing them are sick and are trying to limit their spray for the sake of others.

    Vultures...correct last second maneuver?

Yep, I believe buzzards will tuck their wings and dive as a response to danger. It doesn't even matter if the trouble is below them. They get spooked and they dive. Probably worked for millions of years, but that was before airplanes. I always tell people to dodge them laterally, don't try to...

    IFR Written and Stage checks

There are no "standard" stage checks, but as Kritchlow said, you'll be checked on what you've been trained on. For your own specific case, refer to the syllabus. If stage checks exist, they should be defined there.

    New PPL

It is a good idea to get a head start on your instrument training, but I wouldn't expect to be doing any IFR procedures on your first or second lesson. You have to get power/performance numbers down and basic attitudes first. One thing that will really help is to fly a lot of VFR cross-country...

    Annual Inspection vs. 100-Hour Inspection

Jesus, you just won't let it go. The phrase in quotes is from YOU. Look, if you want to be ugly about it, give me your name and email address and we can take this offline. People don't want to see this type of bickering in here.

    Annual Inspection vs. 100-Hour Inspection

I wasn't quoting myself. I was quoting YOU. But tell you what - I don't know who you are, you're anonymous, and I see no reason for us to continue this exchange. Pick fights with someone else.

    Annual Inspection vs. 100-Hour Inspection

Odd that you decided to get snarky without carefully reading my original post. I made it clear that I "know that an annual counts as 100 hour inspection". But, we see all types in these public forums.

yes, but only for 25 years.

    Annual Inspection vs. 100-Hour Inspection

For you A&P/IAs out there: My understanding is that an Annual counts as a 100-hour (but not the other way around). So, if an IA signs off an annual at a flight school, must the endorsement also refer to the inspection as a 100-hour too?

    Aileron alignment question

I recently had a GFC 500 installed in my 182. After hours of joyful AP flying, I did some hand flying and discovered a built-in left turn. After checking the ailerons on the ground, I can see a small amount of asymmetry. I don't know if this occurred during the autopilot installation or not. The...

    Position of Autopilot control

Autopilot at the bottom puts things with visual interest closer to my eye level. Haven't had the new gear in long enough to use the NAV2 indicator yet. (I'm thinking about swapping it out for a fourth 275.) Unless I'm flying IFR, I tend to fly from the right seat. The 275 puts everything right...

    GI275 question

I can understand the 5 degrees up when parked, but yes, I need to confirm that the shop used the proper level points. UPDATE: I spoke with a Garmin tech on the phone. He suspected miscalibration as the cause. Back to the shop for investigation.

Powerpoint based on ASA Private Test Prep

For comms, record some examples, including examples of ATIS/ASOS/AWOS. Play them then ask the students what they said. An easy way to increase student involvement. For ASOS/AWOS weather reports, look up the phone numbers in the A/FD and you can get all the examples you want from specific...
