    Corona, CA (AJO) 01/22/20

Mixture would make the engine studder or die and you would notice that as soon as you moved the throttle forward at the start of the takeoff roll. Especially on a turbo plane.

    Corona, CA (AJO) 01/22/20

Corona is not short but it isn't long. May have panicked, threw the blue lever forward and just pulled back to clear the fence. My instructor told me when I took my first few lessons that if I wanted to depart the runway just slightly pull back. If I want to land hard pull back hard.

    Corona, CA (AJO) 01/22/20

If they said he 'gunned it' it makes me think he didn;t have the prop all the way forward. Realized it and pushed it forward making the RPMs climb higher and making it sound like he accelerated.

Review: Bose A20 vs Lightspeed Zulu 3

I've bought both the A20 and Zulu 3 within the past 60 days and the prices new are comparative: A20: $999 Zulu 3: $849 Bose A20, FAR better ANR. Zulu 3, their larger ear pads make the headset M<UCH more comfortable for me. Also the longer cord is a plus as I use mounts. Overall I like the...

How did you get your hours after flight training?

Those of you with 200-300 Hours commercial or CFI have endorsements but no experience. I’m just a lonely PPL with 302 hours. But I got my ticket May 2019.

    CHT vs OAT

Being a turbo TIT and CHT are what I focus on. I try to keep my hottest cylinder under 410* in the climb (other cylinders are all 375ish) and my my TIT at 1550 (max is 1650). In cruise CHT in the summer drives mixture, in the winter time TIT drives mixture. My hottest cylinder in cruise May...

First trip to Big Bear today

Fly into there all the time, gas is usually $4.10ish. I’m stationed at KPOC and gas is $5.35. 20 minute flight to $2 a gallon is worth it when you get 80+ gallons

On the runway, ready for takeoff and then...

Why would you enter the runway prior to being ready to takeoff, that is just asking for problems.

    Feedback on PRC Prescott Valley

Call airport operations, I always rent a T-Hanger while there. My in-laws live there so we are flying there often. They just tore down a lot of the covered parking. Because of Embry flight school they have been landing in direct crosswinds when runway 3/21 was available. If your not...

What do you check when short turnaround flights?

If I get out of the plane I do a oil check and walk around. If I turn the engine off I do a run up. All that takes maybe 5 minutes, worth it to make sure I make it back home to my family

Will toys get cheaper as Boomers age out and move to the home?

Just like the last recession I plan on buying lots during the next one. I bough luxury watches, RVs, real estate, firearms etc for pennies on the dollar. I don’t own any of it today, made so much bloody money. I’ll be buying even more next time.

Commanche down in San Antonio, Dec 1, 2019

That is sobering, hard to watch. He had the runway, he had it! Dump flaps, over speed them even, slip it in and get the wheel on the ground. Hell, overrun the runway! As pilots one mistake can be our last, so sad.
