Best Methods for Cooling an Engine?

If VFR I know my descent point before taking off. I plan for an easy 400-500’ descent with reduction in power the whole way down.

Who here sassed the controller at Sun and Fun?

I treat controllers like I treat officers and others in a position to make my life hell, with respect. Arguing with them isn’t going to make your day any better.

    PA-46 Down in Danvill,AR (4 Fatal) 4-23-2021

PPl in 2019, purchases high performance complex is 2019. Also bought a Yamaha R1 as first motorcycle. Still alive. But that’s because I respect the machine and understood they would kill me. Can’t blame the machines, a new PPL can fly these planes perfectly fine if they understand, respect...

Seems to be more retracts on the market

Oh, so you want to talk about pennies. I guess a Cessna cost more on annual since your AP has to check TWO doors. No one should buy a Cessna and have those additional cost.

I haven’t had any additional cost on annuals or yearly maintenance on any of my retractable aircraft.

    Thinking About a DeLorean

Just doing a full restoration on a Delorean my dad bought in the 90s. Engine through a rod in 1998 and it sat ever since. Basically a new car, replaced pretty much everything.

    GA landing KPHX?

I don’t want to go KFFZ, too far out of my way as the accent field is 2 miles from KPHX and 22 miles from KFFZ. Not needing routing, just need PIREPS on landing KPHX and FBO.

    GA landing KPHX?

Daughter has a soccer tournament right down the street, would prefer to land there over KFFZ as it’s 2 miles verses 22 miles. We would be staying the weekend, departing Sunday afternoon. Any PIREPS on GA landing at Phoenix? Favorite FBO?

Student wants advice to end up flying a high performance 6 seater safely

Student wants advice to end up flying a high performance 6 seater safely

Being honest with yourself is the right step. I’ve had my license 18 months and I have over 500 hours flying so for me I knew the plane would be used.

Student wants advice to end up flying a high performance 6 seater safely

I earned my PPL in a complex aircraft I purchased. 6 months after getting my license I got my Saratoga II TC and HP endorsement was done during the required 5 hours dual for insurance. Buy the plane you want first, it’s cheaper.

Experienced Pilots: Do you always calculate takeoff distance?

My first plane I got my PPL in was an underpowered heavy airplane and being on the West Coast I was doing these calculations all the time, especially in the summer. With my current airplane I do the calculations periodically but only when I think something is out of normal. Like W&B I know...

    B17 crash, more info

That's the problem, and IMO makes them bad people. The pilot was also in charge of the maintenance, he knew the corners being cut over and over. If you want to do that in your plane without putting others at risk that is your prerogative. But to do that, continually over and over with people who...

    B17 crash, more info

Yup, no safety briefing? Multiple people saying they were told NOT to tighten their belts because they fail? This was not a freak unfortunate situation, this was gross negligence made worse by horrible neglect.

    B17 crash, more info

Armchair quarterback here and will say the hard stuff people want to hear. I know, none of us were there and the PIC made the calls but this report shows many errors made in the accident chain. Not declaring an emergency and trying to save the plane on MULTIPLE occasions. You were down, dragging...
