    Debating on an Icon A5

Icon is easier to store in hanger. And while an expensive toy it’s no different than the boats, seadoos, seabreacher that cost money to maintain every year.

    Debating on an Icon A5

Any PIREPS? I would use it at our lake house which is a vacation home. Currently fly a Saratoga TCII and would keep it, this would basically be a toy to use at the lake.

    Upgrading Saratoga panel

The plane is worth twice as much as I’m spending on the panel on its own. I flown a Saratoga with the avidyne system, I was not impressed and thought it was garbage.

PA-32 down in Salt Lake (7-25-2020)

I’m on the west coast surrounded by 9k’ peaks. When I was getting checked out in my first plane which was NA the CFI took me to Big Bear on a hot day and said take off like normal. I line up, hold brakes, full power, then release release brakes. Not halfway down the run the CFI cuts power and...

    Trevor Jacob Crash and Burn

He would have been better off just doing the stunt, removing the plane and discarding it. Why file the paperwork where you know you are going to have to lie to the feds. When the FAA found out about the crash and if they came knocking be like oops and take the slap on the wrist. Never. Ever...

3 PEOPLE KILLED WHEN SMALL PLANE CRASHES NEAR BIG BEAR AIRPORT (CA)

I’m stationed at KPOC which is just below big bear and have been flying to Arizona a lot recently. The winds over those mountains have been crazy with some bad downdrafts, maybe they got wind sheer and couldn’t outperform it. I’ve been 5-10* nose up and still descending.

    Catalina and basic pattern questions

Love Catalina, nice 4 mile hike around the airport do a couple dozen times a year. Some weekends can be busy, don’t be the guy calling in a 5 mile straight in while there are a few of us accommodating each other and positioning ourselves. Careful of wind-shear couple hundred feet off the...

Constant Speed Prop use in traffic pattern

You start GUMPS on final, must suck to have to fly so rushed. On final I’m 100% configured ready to land and stabilized.

    FLABOB and Aztec pattern

Ah, Flabob. The approach where you fly directly towards the mountain, turn just in time, fly in between the mobile homes and make sure all the homeless are off the runway. Yes f you come back to your plane not on blocks and rims stolen it was a good day. I Departed there once at night when the...
