How often is maintenance done on private planes?

Renting might be cheaper up to a point, but if you fly more than 50hrs per year, I can guarantee you it's not. Also, with rentals, you pay for all maintenance and reserves up front, ahead of time. With your own plane, you can pay for most niggly or preventive type stuff maintenance when it suits...

    Question about steep turns

Semantics are important, but the OP's original question was about BANKING over 45 degrees in STEEP TURNS.

    Question about steep turns

Yes, you can do a slow flight 45 degree turn. But, you won't be able to do it at the speed for straight and level. If you do, you'll stall. You have to define a new slow flight speed for the intended turn and bank angle you want to use. So, if you add a little margin, probably around 20% in...

    Question about steep turns

Also, anything above 60 degrees is illegal in a normal category aircraft, without chutes. So there's that. No, it's not nonsense. This is why people die in the classic tight-base-to-turn final-with-lots-of-rudder-to-help-it-come-around skidding turn.

    Beating the airlines

I found in my Aerostar that I'd beat pretty much any airline door to door up to 1000nm. After that they win. On cost, rarely. In theory, on the turbine, that should go up to maybe 1500nm, but too early to tell.

Cessna rental and flying in London/UK

It's a pattern, not a circuit. Overhead joins, not 45 degree joins. Flight following is called Basic Service. It does not guarantee separation. Every new sector will give you new squawk. Transition Level might be as low as 4000ft. It's QNH, not Altimeter setting. No class B. Little or no class...

    Aero Commander 690 Training Manual

Don't have a 690B training manual unfortunately, but I do have a link to FlightSafety's Jetprop training manual, if that's useful. https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B18EsoMKjllTVW1QTXRvUjg2WEU/view

    In-N-Out

Love the burgers, but not a fan of In-N-Out's fries. Let's be honest here - McDonalds fries are just impossible to beat.

    In-N-Out

Habit is also very good. I'd say In N Out, Habit then Fatburger, personally.

    In-N-Out

I'm a regular not only for their great burgers, but for their ethical way of doing business. Refreshing to see a company succeed by doing quality food, treating your employees and customers well. So simple, but most companies go for greed.

    ga flying to japan??

Yes, or in the case of the Mooney with the optional aux factory tanks. Not one time ferry tanks that need special signoff and permission.

    ga flying to japan??

Direct Hawaii to Japan? No GA aircraft can do it with standard tanks. Here are the SP range kings: 1. Swearingen Metro IIIB - 2600nm 2. SJ30 - 2500nm 3. Mooney Ovation - 2400nm 4. Conquest 441/Cheyenne 400LS - 2200nm 5. Turbo Commander - 2000nm

Found this on a pilots Imgur...

Probably "bootstrapping", i.e. a stuck wastegate. And you can definitely tell this aircraft is turbo charged because of the high MP values and redline - this is not a normally aspirated engine. Bootstrapping happened quite often on my Aerostar unless you milk moused the wastegates and actuators...

Do most/all piston pressurized aircraft require power on descent to maintain pressurization?

Yes they normally do. At least that was the case on the Aerostar. Below 20" MP it normally couldn't sustain a cabin at altitude. But during a descent the demand for pressurization goes down about as fast as you're descending, so... And in conjunction with the MP naturally climbing as you...

PC12 on tiny uphill grass strip.

Here's a pretty cool clip of a PC12 taxiing out from its underground bunker, then actually taxiing on a steep uphill taxiway to a tiny grass field. Never seen anything quite like it before. Field is in Bolzano, which is the gateway into the Dolomites in Italy.

    Pilot shortage once again....

Good riddance to the regionals who go bust having built their whole business model on getting pilots working for a fast food salary and having to pay for their own type ratings. Let them die and give way to the good airlines who treat people correct.

    IR Checkride write up

Congratulations! I flunked on my first ride too. Entirely my fault. At least I didn't have the external challenges your had on your ride, so I would probably have messed up again had that been the case! Enjoy IFR flying - it's one of the most useful ratings to have, and a tough one to get, so...
