JimK's somewhat epic southwest family trip

Great trip and one I’m sure the kids will remember. Wish I had done more trips when the kids were young and at home. Now it’s just me and the wife who isn’t the biggest flyer.

Finally got my medical today after 7 months!

Congratulations! When I had a medical delay, I called AOPA. They were able to call some special number, and it seemed like it broke things free. Of course that was 10 years ago now.

For Sale: Aircraft For Sale - 1976 Piper Archer II in San Diego

Ask yourself if plane is worth $160k after engine OH. TBO is just a number, but a buyer will be looking at the high time SMOH and asking themselves the same question. I have heard in the past that a lot of banks might not loan against high SMOH planes.

    Wing replacement in AA –5

The AA5 is a Traveler, so yes. Just make sure you have documented time on the new wings so it can be documented in your Traveler logbooks. Replacing the wings without the time in service of the replacement wings makes your plane unairworthy since they are time limited parts. You can NOT...

    Hangar prices.

And that’s a nice airport. It also works well for my turn point when flying to Fayette County for gas at $5.30 per gallon.

Aspen 1000 Pro or Dual G5s

Chuckling…. I am in the reverse situation. I have a G430W that I may replace with a IFD 440. Do I go with G5’s or the Aspen? Autopilot will be a Trio. Will be keeping the airplane, Grumman Tiger till I’m can’t fly anymore. Hopefully, 10 years.

Airbnb/VRBO hosts: How to estimate likely occupancy rate?

I think you are seeing a decline in occupancy rates due to the rental rate inflation price increases driven by lost revenue due to Covid losses. The exact same unit I used to rent in Hilton Head at $3500 pre Covid, and I mean EXACT unit, is now $4600 for the exact same week. Prices skyrocketed...

So I have a 3rd Class with an SI for OSA. I also have a Basic Med. The SI expires in 2026. My 3rd class is required to renew yearly. If I let the 3rd Class just expire, what will the FAA do relative to the SI? Pull it, or just let it expire in 2026. On a side note, I renew my BM every 3...

    Why haven't you been to a POA fly-in ?

I went to RR several years back for the first time. Even this old guy was welcomed in by the young’ins, except that guy that kept chasing me with the chainsaw! Even saw a moon out by the runway. And it wasn’t an eclipse. Talk about messing up someone’s landing sight picture!
