GNS430 non waas and private airports

Is it normal for a non waas gns430 with CURRENT navdata to NOT have private airports in the database ?

    fluctuating fuel pressure

When the aircraft was certified, the fuel supply to the engine had to be 150 percent of what was needed at full power. On my Cessna 195, I have an engine driven fuel pump even though it is a high wing airplane. I have been told that if the fuel pump fails in flight, it is supposed to bypass the...

    Decalin Runup Additive

Is Decalin safe for rubber fuel bladders ? I realize it is not approved for all engines...but for those who use this additive in rubber bladders can you comment ?

    Pik n Pig - a Good Sign

Midlifeflyer, I understand. This was my first visit back since the rebuild . FYI, try to get a table outside if you can...it is VERY noisy inside the new building. I have family in Chapel Hill. My uncle used to be the head track coach at UNC.

    Pik n Pig - a Good Sign

Went there today...arrived at 11:30AM...was already crowded...lots of locals in cars, only about 4 flew in like myself. Got served in about 30 minutes...good food. Flew my old Vee Tail today.

Aircraft Spruce - FAILURE in customer service

They did a similar thing to me recently. They held up my entire order over a couple tubes of Aeroshell grease for over a month, but they took payment the day the order was placed. In the past, I received my order in 2 days and the backordered items were sent when available.

When your plane makes noises... pay attention!

Glad you didn't wreck your plane or get hurt. A very similar incident happened when I flew with my friend in his Cessna 310 a couple years ago. I felt a little bump as we departed a local fly in restaurant..after landing, we connected the tug to the nose gear and started to put the plane in his...

Compression tests are BS - an example

Compression testing is just one tool in the toolbox. Borescopes are good as well, but borescopes cannot see the rings and might not see a crack in a cylinder that only shows during a compression test when the motor is hot. I agree there is too much emphasis on the numbers. When the engine is...

ADS-B and Mod-C in aircraft cert’d with no elec.

Why would you want to fly an airplane without an electrical system into a busy Class B environment ? I suppose you can call atc and request a special clearance, but it is like riding a bicycle on the freeway, IMO. I love old planes..I own two myself, but it seems best to avoid busy airspace if...

Need a self powered stereo intercom

Really ? Pinch your nose and try to blow gently thru your nose...your ears will unplug.

ADS-B and Mod-C in aircraft cert’d with no elec.

The pic I posted explains ADS-B airspace pretty well..it is from an FAA site. The only discrepancy I can see is whether or not it is legal to fly within the 30 mile Mode C ring at a Class B airport and stay below Class B airspace. According to the diagram, it is not allowed, but I know it...

When do you slowdown to VA

When my head slams into the roof I usually slump down, tighten my seat belt and slow down a little. Remember the maneuvering speed was configured at gross weight..if you are lighter than gross, the maneuvering speed is actually lower.

    Looking for a spreadsheet....

For most of us, flying is a hobby we love. I have an idea how much I spend but I really do not want to know.:-)

    Faa written

Years ago I complained to the testing center that there was a bad question on one of my faa written tests. There were no correct answers. The testing center contacted the main office and that question was removed from the test. This does not happen often, but if you see it...tell someone at the...

    Sun-n-Fun - WHAT NERVE!

This is really a non issue for anyone who might still be interested. I attended Sun N Fun this year...told them I was a member of EAA...they gave the 5 dollar discount without asking for proof. I am pretty sure they used to give 10 dollar discounts back when it was a sanctioned event.
