I think you would be best to restore your 108 and add some modern avionics. These airplanes are still very popular. There are currently two 108 restorations at a shop here in Thomasville, NC. One was recently completely rewired, and as far as I know, it is being restored to circa 1946 condition...

Loved the one I used on my 1960 TR-3..soft canvas with zipper to open driver side.

Way to go , Ron ! I use a vibroplex key (bug) exclusively...used to hate the darn things, but joined SKCC cw organization after being away from amateur radio a long time. They ask club members to use a straight key or bug. Now, I cannot sent worth a darn on my electronic keyer..:-)

Had to pass 13 wpm for my general class, and 20 for extra... Been doing morse about 50 years now... Winter is the only time I get on ham radio...cold wx and longer nights. I usually send 15-18 wpm...I can go faster, but I get sloppy.

As expected...Merry Christmas ! :) A lot of us old ham radio ops get out our old morse keys on January 1 for fun..it is called Straight Key Night. CW means continuous wave transmission...dit dah dit dah dit dah...

AJRCM... I always dreaded learning cw until I began actually learning it. Hope you give it a try sometime. It is fun to work all the old timers with one tube transmitters that go " whoop whoop". Also, when watching old war movies, they sometimes send real cw messages. Take care..

You might ask around to see if there is a good EAA chapter in your area. Most have a couple A&P mechanics in the group that might offer to help. Rewiring a Stinson 108 is not a big job, but it needs to be done correctly and signed off. Good luck.

I am especially good at Stauffers microwave dinners...less than 30 minutes for great lasagna, chicken casserole, etc . Back in the day, I cooked for 8 guys at our fire station...home made biscuits and all...that was a long time ago :) You guys who really cook have my sincere gratitude and respect.
