    Runup area/Hold short Etiquette

That's how I felt. Seems like he should have pulled up behind me instead of trying to cut in front.

    Runup area/Hold short Etiquette

I was #3 in the line. By the time he finished his runup the #2 guy was taking the runway and I was pulling forward to be #1. He came from the runup area on the side right up to the hold short line next to me and called tower before I did since I wasn't going to call tower while the #2 guy was...

    Runup area/Hold short Etiquette

Here is the situation- fairly busy afternoon at a class D airport with multiple aircraft in the large runup area and 2 already holding short. You are VFR and so is the guy you end up next to in the run up area. You arrive a bit after him in the run up area but are done with your runup...

Best Glass Panel Ever? My In Depth Review of Dynon SkyView HDX for Certified

No. I have nothing to do with Dynon except I bought an HDX and I really like it. When I was shopping for my avionics I couldn't find any complete/thorough videos on what it would really be like to use the HDX in real world flying. I'm a professional cinematographer so I already have a bunch of...

Best Glass Panel Ever? My In Depth Review of Dynon SkyView HDX for Certified

Ack sorry I had it confused with the GNX375.

Best Glass Panel Ever? My In Depth Review of Dynon SkyView HDX for Certified

The HDX has a WiFi USB key that you can plug in one of the ports on the back. It provides WiFi connectivity with a Foreflight and supports flight plan transfer and communication of position and assb data from HDx to iPad I believe. I also think it works with other apps. The HDx pilot guide does...

Best Glass Panel Ever? My In Depth Review of Dynon SkyView HDX for Certified

Garmin probably has no incentive to do it since maybe it would cannibalize a segment of their other products? Dynon has no separate IFR GPS box on the market so they maybe have more incentive? It seems like they are focused on getting the Skyview autopilots certified and software for all...

Best Glass Panel Ever? My In Depth Review of Dynon SkyView HDX for Certified

If they were ever able to do that (IFR gps cert) it would be a major disruptor in the IFR Navigator market, depending on the price. I wonder if they are working on it - it must be incredibly expensive to certify I imagine.

Best Glass Panel Ever? My In Depth Review of Dynon SkyView HDX for Certified

I am hoping they are easily able to navigate the software update/certification thing. I know the experimental version will be getting support for the new-ish ADSB weather products like LIGHTNING in a coming release according to Dynon along with some kid of Vertical Nav improvements. It sounds...

Best Glass Panel Ever? My In Depth Review of Dynon SkyView HDX for Certified

5 months ago I flew from California to Florida to replace all my steam gauges in my Piper Cherokee 6 with the Dynon Skyview HDX for Certified system. Do I miss them? Here is my full in depth review of the Dynon HDX. Hopefully you will get a good taste of what it is like to fly with it! When I...

My Navlog spreadsheet for X/C planning - save time...

That looks good. You should definitely verify with your CFI before using it. Also you should note it looks like the POH describes a second baggage station that the spreadsheet does not accommodate. Hope you get some use out of it. I made it years ago when I was a student and it's cool to know...

My Navlog spreadsheet for X/C planning - save time...

If you go into the W&B graph page on excel, and move the graph out of the way behind it are the data points that define the envelope. You will need to look at your aircraft POH and adjust these points to define the envelope of your aircraft. The first number is the station and the second is the...

    Cross Country Weather iPad App?

I love Weatherspork. There is so much great info presented in a clever and useful way. I do wish there were updates to the app - like the ability to organize Favorites, a way to quickly view or scroll through multiple airport METARS. TAFS etc on the Airport view page. It is my go to app for...

Kobe Bryant dead in helicopter crash

Great video. I appreciate the heavy disclaimers. I would make one note- early in the video you mention VFR cloud clearance and vis requirements as 3 miles and 500’ below. SVFR of course changes this. But then when he is out of the VNY delta (and thus out of SVFR) and if at the altitude you...

Kobe Bryant dead in helicopter crash

The marine layer is usually worse at the coast. There are mountains between the coast and Thousand Oaks unless you go far west but that puts you in PT mugu airspace... if you try to avoid pt mugu airspace you still have part of the mountain range that is higher than the hills in the...
