    Stand-off Distance From Guyed Towers

Well below or above, top of the tower near the horizon is worst for spotting them from what I found.

    Credit Card Security Chip

I looked at one under a loupe and it looked more complex than simple resistance.

    Credit Card Security Chip

Also, if I don't see the contactless symbol on the card, is that an assurance that it is not, or just 'usually' (is it required)?

    Credit Card Security Chip

Say you wanted to strip the swipe of its data to leave you with stripe less card (would there be a security benefit?:dunno:), what would be the best way to go about it?

    Credit Card Security Chip

Basically the "swipe" is like an old tape deck head reading a 1/4" of tape. Once it reads it, it has the info. To the best of my understanding, the chip actually is part of the hardware of the transaction process as well.

Just bought my first NFA item!

If you have a fully automatic weapon, no one should know, registering it would defeat the purpose of having it.

    Stand-off Distance From Guyed Towers

I'd work under them for three full loads and a partial before I finished that section of wheat, but I was well aware of where every anchor was.

Big Airline push to Privatize ATC - User Fees

It depends on how the system gets set up, but in most places if you operate "in the system" you get charged system fee. If you only talk to towers, you only pay tower fees. If you only get briefings, you only pay briefing fees. If you don't talk to anyone, you pay no fees except airport fees. If...

    Credit Card Security Chip

I think you're right on that, it wasn't that it couldn't be read, it's that the data couldn't be used, but that's a known false premise; there is no "can't", someone always figures out a 'how' for every 'can't'. Where's Jessie on this? He knows all this crap inside and out.

I too would have spent the money on the BAS harness over GPSS.

    Credit Card Security Chip

As long as it's not an RFID chip (call and ask if it has this capacity as well, some do) it cannot be read from a distance to the best of my understanding. Wells Fargo finally gave me a chip card, yay, it's a real PITA in Europe to not have one. If you need a pack of smokes after store hours...

    Airplane Raffle

There are usually a couple raffle airplanes to be found at S-n-F and OSH and they seem to sell tickets pretty regularly (I'll normally pick up a ticket if I like the plane and the ticket isn't over $10-20 or so). I think you need to try to keep your expenses below $40k in order to generate...

    Stand-off Distance From Guyed Towers

The guy that trained me for Ag died hitting the wires of an unlit tower around Tampa spraying mosquitos after Hurricaine Frances.

Copy Wifi Info to another user

That's how I handle the networks on yachts as well, just partition an open guest network, and when we're having guests I turn it on.

    Stand-off Distance From Guyed Towers

I used to spray one field that had a tower, the rule to stay the height away horizontally is a good one. It's more than you need at the ground, but not by a heck of a lot.

    No primary Tach

Ugg, the bane of the late 20th century. The Snap On man gave me a neat little premium tool with a set of wrenches I bought; it's a T handle tie wrap tool. You slip it over the tail against the latch block then pull the T handle with your finger toward the palm stop to tighten it by making a...

    No primary Tach

As for not flying it without a tach, you drive most cars without one don't you? (Not to mention you actually have one more accurate anyway) Is it required by the FARs? Yes, but if the problem isn't causing oil to pour out of the engine, airspeed reference combined with sound should suffice you a...

    No primary Tach

Nope, just spent 4 years doing the work, and 40 years working on most anything that moves. All this stuff is the same, physics doesn't change by application, and seriously, the tach in your plane is identical to the one on boats and tractors around the globe, and mechanical speedometers are...

    1965 Piper Cherokee 180C

Nope, but it would have gone in with the autopilot. I understand his point about running out of budget, but it still doesn't change the fact that's it a 95% job that will now cost 10% more to complete later due to the higher install cost. The less money you have, the more expensive everything is.
