How can certified avionics be so crappy?

Automotive world is 10x worse. Home appliances are 10x worse. Dell? I've never had multiple power supplies fail in my avionics.

Garmin G5 Yellow Heading & Warranty Saga (retitled)

Have 5 G5s in two different airplanes, three magnetometers between them, a yellow once in a while has happened, and I don't care about it. These are individual separate gyros comparing a measurement and occasionally throw a flag. IIRC it does not kick off the GCF500 autopilot. I have always...

    0-360 engine question

I'm from South Dakota but have been a transplant coming up on 20 years. I really enjoy flying out of Lincoln. It's just big enough to be neat and sometimes its busy enough to make it really fun. Had around twelve V22 Osprey landing once when I was doing touch & goes. A local older guy says it's...

Weight and balance problem - determining the CG?

I hate that Cessna doesn't just use the actual moment but rather moment/1000 or whatever. Its a dumb system.

    JPI EDM 830 & GTN 650xi

It boggles my mind that JPI/GTN configuration data hasn't been nailed down by JPI. These radios have been on the market for over a decade.

    Cessna 182 Avionics upgrade

Gotta draw the line somewhere. I cheaped out on 1/2 the breakers. I left the primary bus alone with those crappy Cessna flush ones and put all the avionics on new Klixon breakers.

    Cessna 182 Avionics upgrade

Looks great. Couldn't use a placard font a little bigger? I would have dumped the old cessna switches for something else and made sure there was room for extra ones.

    $1600 - SKY-TEC STARTER 12V 149-NL

B&C have a lot of recommendations on Vansairforce. I did not see a PMA or STC alternator for a 12V 60A belt driven but they do have an approved starter for certified aircraft. It looks like the STC starter has been around a while.
