A Little Better ... At Least For Now -

Well, my condition inspection on my homebuilt light sport cost about $100 (did it myself). And the oil change had been done prior. I started lugging gas cans to the airport because my O-235 has less plug fouling with it. Doesn't hurt that it's cheaper than a gas. I should add pretty much...

    Submerged

The intro on Amazon is so well done I can see why people want to read it. I'll be a buyer when the audible version comes out .

    Someone Else's Started Project?

I had zero problem with the Oakland FSDO. The guy barely looked at my build log. Never asked a question about it. A large part had not been documented by the previous builder but it was a non-issue. I didn't bring it up and he didn't ask. When it comes right down to it I don't really think...

    Android Pilots guidance

I will add I have a Samsung tablet and it is unreadable in many sunlight conditions in my cockpit. I just don't see them as being a proper tool when you can lose the ability to read it at a critical time - such when you are using it for traffic.

    Android Pilots guidance

I recently bought a Hugerock X7. It has a brightness of 2600 nits (and that is not a misprint). It is about the brightest tablet on the planet. On top of that the battery life is pretty amazing. It's running the latest windows software as well. It is the size of an 8" tablet so it doesn't take...

    Degenerate Vertebra, Pinched Nerve

Recently had my second surgery for this situation. Recovery time was at least 6 months. Both surgeries did absolutely nothing to relieve the pain and other symptoms. Had a similar experience with my neck surgery. No relief from pain or symptoms. At the real heart of the problem is the medical...

    November 10, 1975

This song carries special weight for the people of Ontario where I spent a part of my youth. It's a sad, but great song. It is also pretty accurate in its telling of the events

Planning a trip up the West Coast

If you fly up the coast there are precious few beaches or landing spots for an engine out. A lot of sheer clifts, rocky coastline, and water temps that don't give a long time for survival. Also, costal winds are from the north 90% of the time, and much stronger than the inland winds. Flight plan...

Safety Pilot - where to find those in need?

If you're not charging someone and your sharing fuel costs I don't think it could be classified as holding out. POA or local Craigslist or Nextdoor for possible ads.

CENTCOM CC gots some splainin' to do

Is there something inherently wrong with our military when a shove from a general reaches this level and requires an investigation? God help us if we ever have to fight a real war.

The self-flagellation of the frugal and mechanically minded(a rant)

I don't think I have ever seen this abbreviation before, but I immediately knew what it was! Hilarious. Thank you for helping me improve my writing skills. This will definitely get used!

Closed the Deal - Piper Lance

I think this classified you as a "real pilot" who flies a serious aircraft! That's just awesome. She's a beaut!

The self-flagellation of the frugal and mechanically minded(a rant)

We all pick and choose our own battles. The older I get the less tolerance I have for things that aggravate me. If it annoys me, its gone. Even if it's a waste of money. And no, I'm not well off... My mental health involves staying as positive as possible throughout every day. To me, it more...

Wake Turbulence: Small behind a Large

Get off the ground before the big one left the ground. Offset slightly up wind. If any doubt, ask for a delay in takeoff. Nothing wrong with that. WT can destroy your airplane and kill you and your passengers. Make decisions that keep you safe, and free from a lifetime of guilt. At a local...

Is it normal for a student pilot to feel sad like this?

Another vote for "normal" for many pilots. I had a similar issue when I was working on my IFR ticket. I wrote an article along with a tip I used to help me get passed this problem. I'm copying and pasting the article here: One of the challenges of learning to fly is dealing with self-doubt...

    So I bought a C182 - what now?

When I was renting I spent little time on skills practice and emergency procedures. Once I had my own plane it really sunk in that I had no excuse for not learning everything about my plane. Practice everything, especially slow flight. Spend an entire flight touring around with full flaps...

Oxygen Concentrator for older folks flying between 7000 to 10,000 feet

I'm an older pilot that has gotten sensitive to oxygen levels as low as 7500 feet. I'm also a light sport pilot so I am limited to a max. altitude of 10,000 feet. My longest flight these days is 2 hours maximum. This post relates to these three specific situations and not for anything over...

    Balloon Ride in NM, recommendations?

Don't do it. It's terrifying. Scared the living hell out of me. All the while my pita wife is singing "Up Up and Awayyyy..." She thought it was hilarious that I was white knuckled and almost pi*"*ing my pants. Some days I hate her. Never have this issue in an airplane.
