    PA-28R-200 Hydraulics

Taking a CPL check ride soon in a Piper Arrow II and trying to understand some specific questions on the hydraulic system - the POH has a decent overview but couldn’t find answers to the following. Appreciate if this group has the answers. Many thanks! 1- Where is the hydraulic reservoir...

Fluid Leak Under Landing Gear Doors

Thank you both. There are 3 narrow black rubber tubes coming out of the landing gear door just above where the puddle formed - not sure if those are the breather tubes? Plane is located in New Jersey - temps have been between 32 - 40 F over the last 2 days.

Fluid Leak Under Landing Gear Doors

I fly a Piper Arrow II (PA-28R-200). On Friday I completed a 2-hour night flight, and during preflight inspection the next morning, I noticed a small puddle of brown fluid on the ground underneath the landing gear door. I've attached a photo here. Am checking with my shop as well but would...

Product Recommendations Sought - Tire Pressure Gauge and Inflator

Hi all - I have a Piper Arrow II and am looking to purchase a tire pressure gauge and inflator (preferably one instrument with both functions). The items shown on Sportys, MyPilotStore etc all have little/no reviews. Am just looking for something simple, reliable and preferably under $100...

    Lycoming Engine Sputter in Flight

Thanks all. FWIW, I just heard from my mechanic - he said the same thing - "water in the tank". That's reassuring to say the least.

    Lycoming Engine Sputter in Flight

Thanks. I always shake the wings too, but I do it after sumping the tanks. I'll switch that order going forward - good insight.

    Lycoming Engine Sputter in Flight

Thanks. I'm going to look into this and will discuss w the shop as well. Strainer was drained preflight - fuel appeared free of any water or sediment. Appreciate the insights here.

    Lycoming Engine Sputter in Flight

Thanks Joe. Water ingestion comes up a fair bit as I've researched this. I guess I would have thought any small amount of water would have passed through before reaching 1,500 feet. Between preflight sump, taxi, run up, takeoff and climb out, no issues until 1,500'. Strange. I'm starting to...

    Lycoming Engine Sputter in Flight

Thanks. Understand difficult to diagnose here. I don't know the RPM drop - it happened and was over so quickly I didn't get a chance to check the tach. Electric fuel pump was still on. Mixture was full rich. I did not take fuel samples post flight, but pre flight they were clean - no water...

    Lycoming Engine Sputter in Flight

Looking for any views on a situation I encountered last night. I've owned a Piper PA-28R-200 for 3 years. Engine (Lycoming IO-360-C1C) was factory rebuilt as of June 2017 (previous owner had a prop strike so had to replace engine). Engine only has 550 TSMO. For the 3 years I've owned the...

Bennington, VT (KDDH) - Any atypical hazardous? Tips?

Thanks Tim - very helpful. What pattern altitude do you use? 1,800? A/FD is silent on this. I know the monument is at 1,200. On departure from 31 in VFR conditions, does the rising terrain off the departure end really come into play? Just trying to figure out how much of a factor that is...

Bennington, VT (KDDH) - Any atypical hazardous? Tips?

Planning to fly into Bennington VT (KDDH) in the next week or two. Have never flown in here before. For anyone familiar with the airport, are there any unique hazards or warnings/tips you would give? Am mostly focused on anything related to the surrounding terrain and how that may impact...

Constant Speed Prop - Descent Settings

I fly a Piper Arrow and am curious if others have views on proper prop RPM settings for descent? In cruise, I typically fly with RPM at 2400 and MAP between 22 - 24". For descents, I keep RPM at 2400 and pull MAP to 17-18" - combined with a little nose down, this gives me a nice 500-600 fpm...
