    Century 2000 AP Installation

Agreeing with your comments, and intending to go down a legal path, I have tried reaching out to Century on several occasions willing to pay a rather steep price for the Century 2000 STC ($1600). Left phone messages and email... no response. I would think this would be easy money for them to...

    Century 2000 AP Installation

Brian, you've got it right. I have reached out several times to Garmin to promote the Bellanca Viking as an STC candidate for the GFC 500. Recently they did provide a personal response (nice surprise) acknowledging that this model is not high on their priority list, but they did provide some...

    Century 2000 AP Installation

Many threads have been written about the Century 2000 autopilot, which reflect about a 50/50 split between “it works great” and “it’s a real problem”. A used system does represent a bargain based on its feature set. It is also one of the few autopilots with my aircraft on the STC list. In...

    Aircraft Wheel Balancing

After such success with a dynamic prop balance, I'm thinking about having my wheels dynamically balanced as well. Any shops on the west coast that can do this? I know there have been previous posts debating the value of this process... just looking for feedback. Thanks.

    Oil filter AD coming out.

I think the effect of this thread affects me to the point of believing that I have two too many to fix the problem. I need to lose the loose one whether the weather is good or not because my bare head can’t bear the stress of standing here only to hear the principles argued again by the...

    Blast cabinet media

Media blasting has many variables. Selecting the best media is one, pressure is another, and even the style of the blast nozzle is relevant. However most of us cannot afford the time or cost of becoming a blasting scientist so we need to come up with pretty much a single media solution. I...

    Oil filter AD coming out.

I think you mean 65 ft/lb... 160 might be a little too much!

    Dynamic prop balancing

Had my prop balanced today by Jim Fackler. This guy is an encyclopedia of knowledge on vibration analysis. Outcome was amazing.

    Dynamic prop balancing

Are there any quality shops in Cali that can do a good job with the dynamic balance?

GI-275 in the Moving Map Mode – Pirep Please!

This is great feedback to my original post - thanks for the feedback. Ryan, your comments are worthy of an FAA safety seminar! I'm going with the GI-275 as a CDI display and then down the road decide what I will replace the AI & DG with, maybe even the AV-30 if it proves to be more reliable...

GI-275 in the Moving Map Mode – Pirep Please!

Hi Ryan... I think you have correctly described the appeal of the CDI base version of the GI-275 for many of us. This is what motivated my original post here. I am hoping to get some feedback from folks that have made the move and are using the instrument in this mode. In busy areas I spend a...

GI-275 in the Moving Map Mode – Pirep Please!

The base model of the GI-275 is advertised as being very versatile. In addition to the basic CDI function, Garmin talks about a dedicated traffic page, a moving map page and an airport information page. As I understand it these options can be selected from the touchscreen. Looking for feedback...

    Throttle Linkage

This is a very logical and helpful response Bell206 (just as many of your other comments have been on different subjects). I'm going to leave the gap as it is. My service manual, as archaic as it is, does not provide any information about this connection. Once I button this up of course a...

    Throttle Linkage

There is a sizeable gap between the throttle cable clevis end inside surfaces and the throttle linkage arm as shown in the picture below. This is a TCM IO-520D. Is this gap normal and acceptable?

    GPS Data Source

Looking to better understand how GPS data is shared and learn more about the data bus technology. To start with I have a Stratus ESG xpdr which is working well. Now I want to add a Garmin GPS-175 (or possibly the 355) and I am wondering what the options are for acquiring GPS data. Should these...

    Tire Markings

Just purchased a new tire and wondering what all of the white dots are? The red dot is a balancing mark for locating the stem, but I'm curious what the white dots are for? Any tire experts out there?

    Starter O-Ring

Yes, the AS3578-038 was the part number I found in the Continental parts book. Here's the dilemma: the AS3578-038 spec says the OD is 2.750, however the diameter of the starter nose is 3.250. Is it conceivable that they want me to use an undersized o-ring and simply stretch it to fit?
