Why are super vikings so cheap?

Hello to all of the Bellanca fans and critics! As one of the owners of the Bellanca Aircraft factory I am happy to see so much dialogue on the Bellanca Viking and earlier models. I can certainly agree that these aircraft have their strengths and idiosyncrasies, many of which have been discussed...

Bellanca Super Viking gear won’t retract

You are referring to a friend of mine named Frank. He is a good guy, and knowledgeable, but he is not a mechanic.

    Hyd.power pack,Piper,Beech,etc

Thanks to some valuable feedback from Bell206, my previous post #27 was modified to clarify certain details regarding the applicability of the owner produced part provision of 21.303 (b)(2). If this subject is of interest, please re-read my comments above. Thanks, Rob

    Hyd.power pack,Piper,Beech,etc

Hello my Bell206 friend. You have correctly emphasized the point that not everything qualifies as an “owner produced part”. However my point was that the ultimate determination on how to approve the installation of a replacement motor for a Prestolite powerpack rests with the A&P who would be...

    Hyd.power pack,Piper,Beech,etc

We only provide the complete pump overhaul service as this is the only process that we can certify under FAA rules. As mentioned above you can likely buy a replacement motor from Arco Marine, however it is not a PMA part so you would need to install it as an "owner produced part" - make sure...

    Hyd.power pack,Piper,Beech,etc

Our shop has considerable experience with rebuilding the Prestolite pumps - cost is $3450 which includes a new motor. Lead time is 4-5 weeks. Be aware that not all Prestolite overhauls are the same as we incorporate some mods, such as an improved check valve seat and the new motor, which is not...

    A Clean Engine Compartment

I like a clean and shiny engine compartment, but I’m a little hesitant to get in there with a pressure washer and just have at it. What kind of solvents or cleaning agents are a good solution for keeping things in good condition and how would these be used? Appreciate any help from the collective!

CAD Model of IO-470 or 520

Would appreciate any leads on the existence of a 3D CAD model of a Continental big bore engine. SW or IGES or any 3D format would be very helpful. I've checked on GrabCAD and don't see anything. Someone must have done this?

Radio Static when Receiving. Progressively worse through the flight

Had a similar problem. The hose that was delivering cooling air was disconnected. As the radios got hot, the sound quality got worse. Check and make sure there is good airflow to keep the avionics cool.

    Hyd.power pack,Piper,Beech,etc

Today's cost is $3250 from a reputable shop. Not every hydraulic overhaul shop can do a high quality job. It is what it is.

Continental Engine Problems During Climb Out

The 1970 Viking employs vented fuel caps for the main wing tanks and a non-vented cap for the aux tank in the fuselage, which has a venting tube exiting through the belly.

Continental Engine Problems During Climb Out

Tyler, welcome to our community of Bellanca Viking owners! There is some great advice in the various posts in this thread. My belief is that you do indeed have a fuel problem. In fact I had virtually the same problem with a Bellanca aircraft that I purchased a few years ago. I took no chances...

    Aircraft Mover in Cali

Anyone have a lead for me on an aircraft moving service? I have a couple of planes that I need moved... one from the Bay area and another from near the Oregon border, both down to SoCal. Aircraft are in pieces so no disassembly required, but it will take a couple of strong bodies to get these...

    Flaring Hydraulic Line End

    Great feedback - thanks!

    Flaring Hydraulic Line End

Planning to replace some hydraulic hard lines (3/16 OD alum). In reviewing all of the videos it seems that they all talk about a double flare, however the old lines that I am replacing all have single flare ends. Also, most of the dies in my flaring tool say "double flare". I do have a 37 deg...

    Fuel Control Linkage

The linkage shown in the attached picture (from Continental fuel control) obviously changes the mixture based on throttle position. This linkage is clearly adjustable along with the idle adjust screw. My question is: how do you calibrate this adjustment and know when it is correct?

    GPS Glareshield Antenna for GI-275

Really appreciate a couple of replies to my post. As you suggest, I will go with the Garmin 010-12444-10 and spend the $189 for an antenna that is really worth about $20. I understand the rules here and I will follow them. Part of the reason for posting my message was to learn about the...
