For Sale: Aircraft Piper Turbo Twin Comanche, Covington, GA

My son’s an MEI. Buy the plane and I’m sure arrangement can be made for getting the rating.

For Sale: Aircraft Piper Turbo Twin Comanche, Covington, GA

This is a plane for the Mooney guy (fast & efficient) that wants the same thing in a light twin. 190 KTAS at 15 gph with the redundancy of a twin is pretty sweet. Interior is very nice, and as Lane has stated the paint itself is in good condition but there are some chips. He and I and a good...

DPEs: how firm is the >50NM rule? Would distances of 49.5NM be rounded up?

Careful. Absolutely positively no student pilots in ATL Bravo airspace. See Part 91 Appendix D section 4.

    How often do you fly?

It was never the plan, but I’m flying almost every day lately. Since my plane has been down over 3 months now for engine overhaul and nose gear repair, most of that is flight instruction with occasional contract pilot work (usually C414 or C414A). Frankly when a friend and I bought a 172...

    independent CFI airport prohibition

One thing I don't think can be debated it that such policies make learning to fly more expensive. I can't imaging that anyone who cares about the future of general aviation and our "little" airplanes could think this is a good thing. IMHO, of course.

20% consume 80% of the Avgas

8,000 for me (and I fly LOP in cruise). Gotta be 100. TSIO520NBs.

    Track Cars vs. Aviation

Didn't happen without pictures, right. Back in the day spending my kid's inheritance. #1 SCCA National Race G Production Triumph Spitfire at unknown track. #2 PCA Club Racing E Stock 944Turbo at Road Atlanta

    Track Cars vs. Aviation

Based on Ted's excellent thread on his Cobra build I noticed that some other posters are or were into track/road racing. I thought I'd start a thread on that to see how many of us there are and to swap some stories. As was said, racing, aviation or cocaine. You can only afford one. Don't know...

Let's refine the straight-in debate with an example & poll

Not that this is relevant to pattern planning, BUT I just attended a session by the Textron safety guy that investigated this accident. Last week he got the tox info from NTSB. Both pilots had marijuana in their blood screen and the 152 pilot also had cocaine.

Towing your aircraft to/from the self-serve pump?

I bought a used golf cart and tow bar for this exact purpose. AND as a bonus the granddaughters love driving the golf cart around the ramp (with me close to the brake pedal). Mine is an often very quiet airport, so I can't imagine anyone caring.

    Biannual flight reviews...

Your friend is obviously trying to save money to avoid paying his starving CFI. So I'd charge your friend double.

    RRRRRRRough River 2023! (2I3 4/21/2023 - 4/23/2023)

I'm well aware of this and thought I was doing the right thing. I work with a shop that's pretty knowledgeable of twin Cessnas. The Twin Cessna Flyers has produced a document called "Rig It Right" in conjunction with TAS one of the leading Twin Cessna shops in the US. Supposedly my shop followed...

    RRRRRRRough River 2023! (2I3 4/21/2023 - 4/23/2023)

It appears the tube from the motor was pulling, retracting the nose gear to cause the damage. Vle and Vlo are both 140 kts CAS, and I'm quite sure I haven't exceeded this. Won't know if the bearing was seized until it comes apart. It's a needle roller bearing. There is no grease fitting, and I...

    RRRRRRRough River 2023! (2I3 4/21/2023 - 4/23/2023)

The awesome 9 turn approach Dave T flew to set up my landing on Friday was due to a total lack of 3 green down lights after the gear was selected down. For some inexplicable reason the gear did clunk down, and I did get three green lights just as I started downwind. The landing was uneventful...

    RRRRRRRough River 2023! (2I3 4/21/2023 - 4/23/2023)

Sue and I are home safe. Uneventful flight back with gear down. Cost about 40 kts IAS. Had to descend from 9 to 7 at one point because of ice. Sue made this unsolicited comment to me last night. “I like this (RR) because the people are so nice.” Couldn’t agree more. Special thanks to those...

    Dear Signature Flight Support...

I went through the museum in 2005. Being able to walk through that Connie (which IMHO is the most beautiful commercial airliner ever) was a real treat. If that plane ends up as scrap, then somebody ought to be tarred and feathered.
