I’m thinking it’s been more than 3 months since April 2019.

    no jokes, just punch lines.

the blonde started crying. “We’re going to have PUPPIES!”

Team effort or lone wolf training?

As @Gilbert Buettner indicated, you can learn a lot by sitting in the back and watching. Having learned instrument flying FROM my dad (among other aviation pursuits) just be careful that you make this a peer learning event and not a subordinate one.

    Lets make Friday 'Joke Day'!

Not sure which smiley would be appropriate…most of them could have some unintended implications. I certainly wouldn’t use a “thumb up.”

I have tasted speed, and I like it

I flew from Kenedy to Odessa (about 300 nm) in my 100-kt Maule in 4:45 plus fuel stops…and I was down below 1000 AGL to stay out of the wind. Of course, I also got out of a 460-kt Falcon on a 300-mile trip one day and hopped in my Maule to fly from MN to Alaska.

I have tasted speed, and I like it

    Also very subjective. ;)

    More specifically, unicorn farts.

I have tasted speed, and I like it

Yeah, but with strong tailwinds in the Citation ya gotta wear an oxygen mask the whole flight because it blows exhaust fumes into the cockpit! ;)

Woman Backs Into Propeller, Kansas, fatal, 10/27

But assigning blame to only one or two people can severely limit the learning.

First Tailwheel flight + Back to Basics with POA Pilot

It’s interesting when certain groups of people only know you in one context. I used to walk through the lobby of the local FBO after arriving in my Maule… ”Flying the taildragger today, huh?” “Yup…building quality taildragger time instead of that worthless jet stuff.” Most of the career track...

First Tailwheel flight + Back to Basics with POA Pilot

Hopefully it’s because peaking at minimum ACS standards on the checkride and then applying no standards to the rest of your flying isn’t your goal. ;) I used to get people ****ed off at me because I wouldn’t let copilots land on a 50-ft wide runway when they couldn’t keep the wingtips on...

Is Broken at 1300 considered VFR?

Like I said, technology has probably made it a lot easier. The majority of my SVFR clearances were either to/from an airport with FSS on the field (long time ago), to/from a tower-controlled airport, or were coordinated with the controller who was working me IFR. The majority of pilots I...

VFR flight plans. Do you file them?

Disagree all you want, but you’ll find dozens, if not hundreds, of examples here… https://www.pilotsofamerica.com/community/forums/aviation-mishaps.59/

VFR flight plans. Do you file them?

I think you should spend some time perusing accident reports…you’ve got some significant misconceptions.

VFR flight plans. Do you file them?

Nobody crashes in day, VFR, good weather, within 5 hours of takeoff?

FIA Flight Instructor Airplane written exam completed today

So…what can you tell me about “traditional assessments”? ;)

Is Broken at 1300 considered VFR?

Technology has probably made it a lot easier, but it can be difficult for VFR pilots to find the proper controller frequency. A one-stop shop with Flight Service can make it a lot simpler.

    ACS Standards Question

For the benefit of all of us, including the OP, I’ll just note that clarity of questions and answers is important for an instructor…
