This week's lesson will be on the ground - a lesson in ADM

From an EMT friend from a long time ago, blood is supposed to go round and round, and breathing is supposed to be in and out. If either of those two operate the other way, you probably shouldn't be flying a plane.

How much ethanol is too much

Not a chemist, but I don't think they ever separate at room temp/pressure. AFAIK, water and ethanol are miscible in any ratio. If they weren't, mixed drinks wouldn't work at all ratios. Now as others have pointed out, gasoline with a bit of ethanol is miscible and with a bit of water, too...

    Test your Taste

For the first time ever, I had a Monte Cristo sandwich last week. Because I wanted a hot ham and cheese, and that was the closest thing this place had. What I didn't know was that the way they toast the bread it ends up tasting like a waffle with synthetic maple syrup in it. Not a fan...

the "not worthy of it's own thread" thread

I'm not thinking that's what he's drinking. I'm betting that's what he's using to get the neighborhood kids to polish the plane.

    Hug your kids

F**ck. I'm sorry, Ed. Don't know what else to say. You don't deserve that. Nobody deserves that. Keep hanging on.

2 Delta workers killed at ATL after tire explosion 8/27/24

I don't think multi-piece rims are used for over the road trucks anymore, but pretty sure they're still used for heavy equipment and agriculture. Couldn't pay me to work on them, but I'm a big baby.

    Bicycles in planes

As far as PA-28's go, the configuration can be a little different between years and models. Not sure that they all have the back hatch? A smarter person than me explaining in a different thread: https://www.pilotsofamerica.com/community/threads/pa-28-140-and-180-rear-seat-room.117176/

    Mosquitoes

There's a British version good for something like 350 knots, but there aren't many of them left.

Do GA aircraft have this device?

Yep! Friend has a Pontiac G6 hardtop convertible, and I think it does the same thing. My favorite BMW door story, though, was that a friend had an older one that apparently had hydraulic door locks. On a really hot day sometimes the fluid would expand a bit and unlock all the doors.

the "not worthy of it's own thread" thread

Coming back to a kinda common thread lately, I don't ever want to apply for a job that could be more effectively be done by a cat.

    Lets make Friday 'Joke Day'!

When you order, just tell them you want it cut into 2 slices. (and that's a tribute to Yogi again.)

Talk Me Out of a Cirrus

Just curious, but a demand system or steady flow? I don't fly anything all that high, but in the 8-10 range it does sound like a good idea. (And sorry for tangent)

    Lets make Friday 'Joke Day'!

I wonder if they'll get one of those email/web surveys after their flight? On a scale of 1-10, how likely would you be to recommend "Boeing Starliner" for your friend's travel needs? 1 - highly unlikely, 10 - very likely

Wing walking thrill rides shut down, pilot/operator loses license

Yesterday I learned about the parameters for obstacle clearance on IR departures. Today I learned yet another reason why you should not transport cats in cars. And I remember that I miss the little vent windows. It's been a good week!

    Airline Exit Rows

Yep, could've been mobility that provided the save, and could've just been luck. Maybe fate, but that's really not I think I hold with much weight. My bet would be on being able to think when other people freeze, and being able to make good life changing choices. Those traits last longer than...

    Horizon Jumpseater goes crazy

That's fair. But as to his decision making during the influence, I'm criticizing his own description of it that he gave on ABC news. So that speaks not just to whatever the actual thought process was during that event, but also the one where he was presumably sober and decided to describe it...

When to turn leaving Class D airport?

Thanks for this...I learned something today that is going to make me a little safer.

Talk Me Out of a Cirrus

Keep the existing airplane, don't get the Cirrus, instead get a second wife. Don't tell the first one. All the excitement, expense, and terror of FIKI, your friends will be amazed, and probably similar likelihood of a non-survivable outcome in the end. I kid!!
