Alec Baldwin shoots and kills cinematographer.

That's it! Couldn't remember the name. I think I read "up front" for the first time when I was in grade school.

Alec Baldwin shoots and kills cinematographer.

If I remember it right, who he became was related to a German soldier who was pretending to surrender, and then killed Murphy's friend. If I have the story/interview right in my head, at that moment he put his carbine to his shoulder and walked toward the group of enemy soldiers like a normal...

Pilot threatened with arrest for helping NC victims of Hurricane Helene...excuse me?

FWIW, NY has a separate state guard, too. It's not just a southern state thing. No idea what their structure is, but have worked with them on public service events and small scale incidents as part of me working with county resources.

Pilot threatened with arrest for helping NC victims of Hurricane Helene...excuse me?

It's a common occurrence in emergency situations for people to self-dispatch. That doesn't mean being the first person at the scene of an accident and helping, it's showing up at an emergency scene where there is already an official response and offering to help out. It happens with both...

    Daily Pic

Very cool! Being the big baby I am, I've never flown around those, even though they're pretty close. In my mind they're like Charlie Brown's kite eating tree, and I'm the kite. Mt Greylock? I'll fly right alongside or below and not even think about it. It's apparently a weird me thing.

    Any Hunters in Here?

I would think in either 308 or 243 it should be great. I had a 223 that at 300 was easily 1.5" without anything special going on. From my friends who shoot longer range, as you probably already know, part of the thing is making sure you don't drop to transonic at 600+. I'd think that's pretty...

Fatal Crash at First Flight, 9/28

It's all sad, and a 6 year old as part of if makes it all the more worse. I could see a failed go-around, that almost bit me once - following the right steps, but not having the required speed before setting the climb out pitch. And I can see the wind around the trees being a factor, too. I...

    Lets make Friday 'Joke Day'!

Sounds like a typical day at a woman owned business. (I kid!)

Have you ever spent six hours with your underwear on backwards?

Never happened to me. But if it did, I have a plausible explanation ready. "It was dark still dark when I left her apartment."

Fatal Crash at First Flight, 9/28

Thanks for this. I've never flown one, often read about how "weird" they are, and have wondered how much of those opinions are from actual experience or just passing along second hand info. Good to hear that they fly like a normal aircraft. Is it safe to say, though, that since they are a bit...

the "not worthy of it's own thread" thread

1 - congratulations! I'm positive that wasn't easy. 2 - I tried several times to read the second to last sentence, but I was trying to build a logical model of the contents of the drink you were describing, and before I fired up a spreadsheet to explain it to myself I had to give up. That...

What advice would you give someone for a CFI checkride?

The night before, maybe two nights before, get plenty of rest. Don't plan on doing anything except relax and eat before the checkride. Lots of people underestimate the value of being relaxed and rested before any kind of test or important event.

    What Drives Insurance Cost?

Agree. My answer was more the general case than the specific. It's lack of competition here, because it's a small market, also agree.

    What Drives Insurance Cost?

My vote is lack of competition combined with ineffective regulation, supported by lobbying second only to the drug companies last time I checked.

the "not worthy of it's own thread" thread

Big 10 games in the 80's-90's could be a little bit like that. There were a few games where the losing team seemed to shift effort from trying to win to seeing if they could keep the other team from having a functional starting lineup for the next game. Not saying it was a good thing, but it...
