    HIMS Psychiatrist

There is no set list of questions. It will depend entirely on how your session progresses. Prepare to speak in detail about your substance abuse history. The psychiatrist needs to forensically establish, within the guidelines of medical practice (i.e. The DSM), how to appropriately describe...

    HIMS Psychiatrist

It will be a very thorough psychiatric intake and evaluation. Complete review of your history, life circumstances, relationship with alcohol, etc etc. Basically expect several hours of examining your life down to the finest detail.

Am I Setting up the Kid for Disappointment?

@WingmanMed Appreciate all the hard work on churning the butter over at CAMI, but it looks like they did not go ahead with publishing new ADHD guidelines in the AME guide update this morning: https://www.faa.gov/ame_guide/monthly_guide_updates Any idea what is going on behind the scenes...

    Deferred medical - HIMS

You can click on someone's username to see their post history. Like @Cxt1067, I got a letter from DC approximately 3 months after my AME visit and submission that the application had moved to the federal air surgeon's office. The entire 14 months of AME - >OKC -> DC -> OKC medxpress just said...

    Fentanyl DOT Drug Test

If a pilot is taking fent, there will probably be other, "lifestyle" indications that make it obvious without needing to detect it on a screening test

    Deferred medical - HIMS

Contrary to what @Cxt1067 posted, my medxpress went to "in review" after the AME finished submitting documents last year and has been "in review" since June of 2022. Supposedly OKC has it back from DC, but it still say "in review" pending the issuance of a letter from OKC.

Am I Setting up the Kid for Disappointment?

The FAA is moving, albeit at a glacial pace, towards allowing more people with a history of ADHD an avenue into the pilot's seat. @WingmanMed has posted that there is currently an effort to create ADHD CACI criteria for certain "simple" cases of distant childhood ADHD treatment. Without knowing...

Deferred application approved. How to renew?

OP posted his timeline in this thread: https://www.pilotsofamerica.com/community/threads/deferred-3rd-class-approved-timeline-and-questions.143618/#post-3418117 June 2022 -> July 2023

    HIMS backlog

For what it's worth, don't let some guy on the internet be the reason you stop flying. Despite my bad customer service experience with the feds I still love flying and I'm not giving up. I actually have some lessons at the local FBO scheduled pending the FAA mailing me my SI letter. This career...

    HIMS backlog

I'm not a sponsored airline pilot. You can go to reddit.com/r/faahims and look at some of the timelines posted by 121 airmen over there. They seem to be having a substantially shorter wait of 6 months or less. Regarding your AME's comment, either he has bad info, you misunderstood, or...

    HIMS backlog

You won't be considered a 121 revenue airman unless you are currently employed by an air carrier and your submission is sponsored by your airline HIMS rep. In other words if you are waiting around on long term disability they will fast track you to get you back on your feet. My packet was...

    HIMS backlog

From the limited information I have been able to gather through peers and sources, 121 revenue airmen can expect a total wait of 4-6 months for a class 1, whereas everyone else is currently looking at a 12-13 month total wait time once submitted via the AME. In retrospect I would have just gone...

Deferred 3rd class approved! Timeline and questions

I'm not entirely certain since I went for 1st Class directly, you'd be better off asking your AME. I believe it would need to be deferred again, but it should be pretty straightforward since you already reported the conditions and went through the review. The good news is that you'd have your...

Deferred 3rd class approved! Timeline and questions

Hoping that I'm right behind you. 1st Class HIMS SSRI, AME exam completed June 2022, was told that the DC panel completed review last week. @Cxt1067 did you first hear about it on medxpress or from your RFS or AME?

Looking for HIMS Psychiatrists for Eval Under $2k

A Psychiatrist is an M.D. aka Doctor. They have been through medical school and are trained to treat mental health conditions through that lens. They are looking at your health in totality and especially with regard to affective disorders i.e. emotional disregulation or other conditions that...

    Mounjaro

@WingmanMed out of curiosity, where do you get your updates on expected FAA changes? Is there some internal FAA bulletin that is only available to AMEs or do you have "sources"

    SI Issuance

Not liability in the sense of a member of the public having standing to sue the agency, but liability in terms of exposure to backlash from congress and the public. The specter of Germanwings continues to haunt aviation medical regulatory agencies around the world, and the FAA is no exception...
  18. R

    SI Issuance

No that's not on basic med, that's on the FAA posturing for increased funding at CAMI. By slow rolling the SI backlog as much as possible they are able to have quantifiable data to tell congress that they need $X additional funding for physician hiring. Its a well known government agency...

    SI Issuance

I actually linked the wrong reddit thread about an autism SI, here is the correct one: https://www.reddit.com/r/flying/comments/z9ty6r/after_2_long_years_of_fighting_ive_been_approved/. Farther down in the comments you'll see he needs to submit biweekly therapy reports to his AME
  20. R

    SI Issuance

Yes, there are SIs with stipulations regarding treatment in between the 6 month intervals that must be complied with. See this reddit thread where an airman with a history Autism and epilepsy needs to have biweekly visits with a therapist in between 6 month renewals...
