Tips, ideas for judging off-field landing distances?

One possible solution is to consider getting a plane with a BRS. Besides the Cirrus planes, C182 and C172 can have them added on.

Which single line checklist items, when missed, could lead to a crash?

One more I can think of is forgetting (or not knowing) to lean the mixture at high altitude airports.

Which single line checklist items, when missed, could lead to a crash?

That sounds interesting/useful to know. How did it lead to a crash?

Which single line checklist items, when missed, could lead to a crash?

On a C182, landing trim is full up, and takeoff trim can be almost full down if the CG is aft. If I had 4 adults in the plane with full nose up trim, I am not sure I would be able to overpower the yoke. When you go around in a C182 with the full nose up trim, if you apply full power suddenly, it...

Which single line checklist items, when missed, could lead to a crash?

I can start with: - forget to remove control lock - leave the trim set for landing before take-off - not pushing mixture rich before takeoff at sea level if you taxi with very lean mixture - in a Cessna, not putting the fuel selector to "both"

Yeah, that's what I understood. A single check list item missed could lead to a crash. Makes you think.

Am I crazy for considering a V-Tail Bo?

I think IR in the Rockies has a very limited utility with a an SEL, unless you have FIKI, so not sure why you are planning to get it. It's your money and time, so you decide. T210 has similar speed and space as Bos, so I think they are comparable. Except T210 climbs way better above 10,000 ft.

Am I crazy for considering a V-Tail Bo?

T210 is more comparable to a Bo than a TR182, though I am sure a TR182 is a great plane.

    I would pick a turbo 210.

    Katamarino's Round the World flight

"the flight plan had not been received. Further inquiries revealed that the computer which receives the plans was in a locked office, and the man with the key had not arrived yet!" Unbelievable. Sorry.
