Why didn't they fly the plane back to the runway?

Very interesting. Thanks for posting. That sort of goes along with what I read on this forum many years ago, that legally you could take basic flight in a 747 although it might cost a few more bucks.

Why didn't they fly the plane back to the runway?

Factory built Sonex equivalent?…….. hmmmmmmm…… let me see…… ; is there a shed somewhere being used as a factory? Well, if it’s factory built, it wouldn’t be flimsy enough, or uncertified enough to be considered an equivalent, so I guess there isn’t one.

Why didn't they fly the plane back to the runway?

The last time I went to Oskosh was 1992 I believe. Since it means so much to you, you can spend YOUR time to look it up.

Why didn't they fly the plane back to the runway?

Well stated! Yeah, even if a home made plane COULD be flown for 90% less money, which I find impossible to believe unless you are comparing something like a Bonaza to a Sonex, is the risk of mechanical failure worth it. There will be pilot error issues with all planes, but increased chance of...

Why didn't they fly the plane back to the runway?

I perfectly understand your overall cost idea. Now you’re reading comprehension is strained. I made it clear that I had a significantly higher than normal annual this year due to exhaust system replacement. There’s no way I’m at ten to one over what I’ve spent on my 140 compared to your...

Why didn't they fly the plane back to the runway?

Hmmm…. I’m still feverishly searching for your 10 to one contrast. A new Continental O200 is not available but if it were, it wouldn’t cost $80,000. BTW what is the TBO on your engine? Okay 3.8 times $3.00 = $11.40, 5.5 x $5.29 = $29.09. Is THAT ten to one? My annual was about twice as...

Tool box recommendations for future A&P mechanic

Funny story: When I got out of the Army I had to wait a whole semester before I could start going back to college. I grew up in my Dad and uncles car repair shop. I got a mechanics job in a big truck shop. There were huge, long bays with two very long and strong steel work benches for each...

Why didn't they fly the plane back to the runway?

Oh, is there a 737 equivalent built in a shed? Sorry, I didn’t know that.

Why didn't they fly the plane back to the runway?

Hmmmmm….. I’m still trying to find 10 to 1. My Cessna 140 is a rough equivalent, with a few exceptions of course, like doors on both sides, capacity for two large people, an IFR panel to include a 430 and ADS-B transponder. 5.5 GPH vs 4, $45,000 (that’s the offer I turned down for it...

Why didn't they fly the plane back to the runway?

And I’m sure that all kit planes are built strictly according to the plans.:frown2:

Why didn't they fly the plane back to the runway?

Glad you have what you want. My 50 and 70 year old airplanes are tried and true, kept in top shape with thorough annual inspections. I think you need to analyze your math skills. Would you like to show some real world, apples to apples used market numbers that are ten to one? The wonderful...

    Stratus transponder

In my case the blind encoder solved the problem and was relatively inexpen$ive.

What causes engine roughness when you lean too much?

Well, since leaning is providing less fuel to the engine, maybe that has something to do with the engine running rough.

    Stratus transponder

Ryan has probably hit the bullseye on this. It is most likely the blind encoder or wiring for same. I am going through the same thing with my Stratus Xponder and antique blind encoder. They have an encoder ready to put in once I get it over to the avionics shop.

School Me On Short Wing Pipers

It’s been a while since I flew one. I flew a Colt and a Pacer about ten years ago. I was completely underwhelmed by both it’s been too long and too many planes since to rember any details, but I was unimpressed with both of them. I remember that I liked the Pacer better than the Colt, but...
